Modpack Spotlight - Agrarian Skies
The (Minecraft) world has ended, and there is nothing left. Well, ALMOST nothing; Code Wizards meddled in the balance of nature, and released hordes of monsters from other dimensions on an unsuspecting world. Not satisfied with just destroying human life, the monsters rampaged across the world eating everything they could find, and leaving nothing in their wake but empty void.
Now, it is up to you to rebuild an entire world from nearly nothing.
Agrarian Skies is a popular modpack made by Jadedcat, which takes the classic idea of a skyblock game, and cranks it up many, many notches. You start with a quest book, which guides you on your journey. Numerous spells, tools, and machines are at your disposal to complete your arduous task. However, be warned: this is not a modpack for the faint of heart! Loads of challenges, monsters, and more await you on your journey. Do you have what it takes to build an entire world?
One final note - you have a limited number of lives. That's right, you can only die so much before reality has had enough, and leaves you dead forever!
The quest book's introductory quest has a full voice-over as well, done by your favorite MCF news writer!
HOW DO I PLAY?
If you have the FTB Launcher, you can play simply by downloading the Agrarian Skies modpack, and starting up your game!
[edit]I just realized it tells you the name of the mod when it backs up the system lol. Aroma is the backup and the config file has options for frequency and location of backups, but I don't see any option to delete old backups, maybe that is only in the new 1.7 FTB version. Oh well, I can write a script to do this.
And what is the approximate randomization of rain? I've had the server run for over 7 hours with no rain. When I first started the server it rained, but it hasn't since.
Man, this is a grindy mod pack. I doubt I'll have it running for long since a lot of people have already thrown in the towel and it's only been up for 2 days. So much chopping down trees and smashing cobble...drives you nutty after a while.
I avoid the reward bags as often as possible because of this. I thought I was the only one getting these 1% chance useless rewards every time.
One tip I've read, was you can use the hammer to work cobble down to sand, smelt that in the oven, and get some glass bottles. Use those to pick up water from your pond (make sure from a spot the source block will regenerate!), then use the waterbottle to fill your barrel. That will let you add dust to make clay, to make a clay bucket and a crucible for lava creation. The lava will destroy the clay bucket on use, but once you have a bucket worth of lava you can make your cobble generator, then easily make another bucket. Also sieve enough gravel to get iron ore, and make an iron bucket.

you simply right click XD
Is this something I'm doing wrong? Is there a way to make multiplayers all spawn in the same place? (/on the island)
I think someone asked this a couple of pages back but I didn't see a reply.
ETA: I had a similar problem when I tried to normal skyblock with Big Dig... Normal skyblock in vanilla works fine.
The SECOND i placed the final block into it, my game crashed. And everytime i reload the world it instacrashes befor ei can check to see what happened.

If someone can point out wtf i did that'd be great!
I've managed to get in with another account and we /tp'd before I died. Would still like to know if there's a fix for this though...
I did have a look at the level.dat, I found x and y spawn settings, but changing them didn't seem to help. (Not sure if it would have without TP because we pretty much just did it straight away.)
Can I unlock a player to let them back in?
Still need an answert to this, AND new question, have all the forestry engines been disabled? I cant make any and theres no crafting recipe for them.
If they have been disabled, can anyone explain how to generate poiwer, ive never used half the industry mods on this pack.
i got trapped in my house with like 20 and lost all of my 20 lives!
i just wish there was a way to turn hardcore of!
the first thing i did was go to jadedspawn.cfg and reset the values to -1142, 70 1353 and spawnenforcementenabled=True but for some reason that didn't work (though it might work for others)
next step was to make sure you are an OP (don't know if this is needed but that's what i did)
when you spawn just use /gamemode c and fly to the flat platform at the coordinates listed above (not sure of the values for home sweet home)
then build a bed and sleep in it and you wont have a problem any more.
make sure to TP other players to your location the first time they join and then take yourself out of creative mode
Also if you lost all your lives before you were able to fix the falling into the void problem (on a multiplayer server) just go to the bannedplayers.txt file and delete your name then restart the server and you'll be able to spawn.
You need to download the maps from the maps section of the FTB Launcher
