Minecraft Movie?
Have you seen the Lego Movie yet? I don't want to spoil it, but it's pretty awesome. Warner Bros did LEGO proud, and now has its sights on giving Minecraft a similar movie makeover.
As of this writing, there are no hard dates for production (or release), and it seems that talks between Mojang and Warner Bros are ongoing.
Rumors abound on whether the movie will be animated, or live-action. According to film blog "Deadline Hollywood", Roy Lee (co-producer of the LEGO film) is set to produce Minecraft. Notch has said that Mojang will retain a significant level of creative control of the movie, something they are not willing to budge on. Who will star in it? What will the story be about? At the moment, no one knows!
Keep an ear to the ground - we might see a Minecraft movie before the end of the year.
obviously it will star Steve killing all the endermen and whatnot, and then blowing up a dragon and a three-headed thing for no reason, and then laughing maniacallyJust kidding. It will probably ruin my vision of the game, but whatever
Also, give Steve the voice from his old hurt sounds.
Oh yes.
And then there will be a bunch of idiots saying Minecraft is a bad game adaption of the movie.
In my opinion it is actually better to base a movie off a game that does not have a story. Because the game has no story, the movie's story can be written purely to work as a film, instead of being bogged down by elements from the game that they try to stuff in.
Hes right
Why?? That makes little sensei think itll be cool
Personally, I would love to see this in the movie. And to be honest, it would be so awesome if I was in that movie too since I love playing one of the roles of the heroes! Come on Notch, make it happen!
I wouldn't think so to be honest. Thing is, both LEGO and Minecraft have something to do with building crazy awesome stuff. Neither of them have an actual plot behind them, but when Warner Bros. made "The LEGO Movie", there was a national craze going on that the movie made more than $125 Million at the box office when it got in the theaters! I would personally think that if the deal goes through and "The Minecraft Movie" comes to theaters, it would potentially rack up phenomenal profits within the first week on a global scale!
I agree with this really, don't bring in Youtubers as main characters, maybe have them have small parts in it, but not whole main characters. Like with LEGO movie, they didn't use popular characters like Superman and Batman as the main characters, they used only one, and the rest of the main characters were original characters. I think if they had one famous Youtuber as a main character, and hint towards some of the other ones in the movie, then I think it would be good.
JUST WATCH THE LEGO MOVIE!!!!
I nearly fainted of joy when they said this on my local news.
Not to mention the movie will be made by the Lego movie people.
I think this will be great!!
By the way, I'd like both animations and live action, as for plot, (I know this has been said already,) maybe a game from 1st day, to nether/end, then wither... You get the point.
Kudos, Warner Bros!
No, I mean -Minecraft- has not existed long enough for an actual movie to be any good.
Look at Lego. It's existed since the 50's. Generations of kids have grown up playing with this toy that evolves yet fundamentally remained the same over decades, time has passed long enough not only for little quips to be discovered (the pain of stepping on a lego, those annoying pieces that are stuck together, never being able to find that one piece in the box but it shows up every other time) but many other large elements you can bring into a movie.
Minecraft has only existed for a few years.
It's incredibly popular, but it's still 3-4 out of 10 people that know about the game, compared to 9 out of 10 people that have almost certainly played with Legos in their life or at least know what they are. And it's so young, there's really not all that much to go on. The closest we've come to a little quip is the META-INF folder. The main demographic is going to be a bunch of creeper hoodie-wearing 10 year olds with headset-hoodie skins trying to fit in to a highschool social structure that doesn't exist. The LEGO movie is awesome because it focuses on the nostalgia of people playing with their legos, something people of all ages identify with. It also is very diverse: There's LEGO Batman, LEGO Star Wars, Knights Kingdom, various space-themed lines, etc. Minecraft has only one theme, really: A bunch of people in the middle of nowhere building everything they want using only what they know and have. While that itself sounds like a good enough theme for a movie, it's not enough for it to feel like Minecraft.
As time goes on, and people grow up, and Minecraft gets more popular, we'll start picking up things, finding jokes to add, elements to put in, and we'll have ourselves a decent movie.
