Building on last week's Snapshot, Mojang continues the drive to give mapmakers even more awesome tools (and fix some bugs too)! What's on this week's Snaphot?
FEATURE LIST (MAP-MAKER EDITION!):
- /tp now supports rotation arguments
- Player selectors (@p, @e, etc) now support cubic areas. For example: @e[x=0,y=0,z=0,dx=10,dy=10,dz=10] gets all entities between 0,0,0 and 10,10,10
- Added /clone command to copy large areas to other areas
- Added a /fill command to fill a large area with a block

- Windows EXE:https://s3.amazonaws...rver.14w03a.exe
EDIT:
Skins have undergonie some changes as well! You can now set different textures for different body parts (instead of one "arm" texture, etc), as well as apply a "hat" layer to any body part, not just the head! Not enough awesome? What if you could toggle any layer parts on your body? You can do that too! Customizing your skin has never been easier, or more cool. Give it a try!
Be right back, I'm going to go server-hopping without my mask.
BUT
Can we get some old stuff sorted out?
Can we get a revamp of the boat?! that has been completely useless for many version....Control is not too bad but they break apart when you hit air...
And the redstone block...supposedly works like a torch but if you put a block above it and try and put a powered rail on it...no power. So it does not act like a RS torch as originally mentioned...would be nice if it did.
Bring back the snow golem and snow trails
Snowballs....can we get them to do something?!
Get rid of inventory cap of 16 on any item....it is a useless number
While I enjoy the adventure map of things...lets not forget that this is a sandbox game too and many people enjoy it for that
And yay for the new skins. (If I can just find something extremely cool to do with it now.)
Warning: A bunch of text and mini-rant.
Short reply: I agree.
I'll admit, they're slowly doing that, but..not really enough. I'm glad they finally made doors stackable, and added a recipe for moss bricks and whatnot..but... There's so much more that still needs updating.
Mojang, we REALLY don't need more useless decorative blocks. We need updates to existing game mechanics. Especially the ones that have barely changed since early beta. More focus on the SURVIVAL part would be nice. More mobs, udpates to redstone (finally), more redstone activated blocks, more recipes for uncraftable blocks, Updates to hoppers to make them more useful to people that don't make complicated things, new furnaces, new storage blocks(gotta admit, chests are getting a bit old..especially when you end up putting them everywhere), new kinds of small torch-sized lights that look nicer(torches all over the place tends to look ugly, and redstone lamps/glowstone are full blocks).(also I realize some of that is actually aesthetic, but not a ton.. it's more a useful aesthetic, rather than the semi-uselessness of stained glass and colored clay).
They seem to be focusing way more on building and aesthetics. They need to realize, not everyone cares about aesthetics. I myself, play the game for the Survival aspect of the game. But it's currently so easy, and there's not really much to do. Most things can be done quickly with little effort, even on hard. There's no effort involved in surviving at the moment. And Mojang doesn't seem to want to worry about that. They're too busy adding stuff to make the builders and people that enjoy aesthetics happy. And before someone says it, I don't really care about the changes to enchanting and villagers. They barely change anything.
Also, what happened to the modding API? I haven't heard anything about it in ages. It sure would be nice to be able to install mods easier(similar to texture packs) and whatnot. Some kind of news would be nice.
And since I'm sure SOMEONE will say it.. I know about mods. I use mods all the time. But I shouldn't HAVE to rely on mods to add things Mojang should be adding themselves.(Not talking about the huge mods, just basic mods, like Better Storage, and Backpacks. Little mods that should be in vanilla in the first place, but Mojang are too busy adding flowers to get around to putting in)
Sorry, rant over. I don't mean to sound like a jerk about it all. I enjoy the game still. Mojang has done a lot with Minecraft and it's awesome. But the game could be SO much better if they'd just try to make it better, instead of changing tiny little things that don't effect the game.
*Bump*
I don't understand how to do those parts, aka the feet/hands.
Also, I want to have on my left leg at the left side a sword in a sheath, but i don't know how to make it if there is a way to have a 3d on a 3d plane, help?
In Docm77's video, one of the members of the ZipCrowd turned on and off his jacket you could see it flashing in the video. So yes, turning off your hat will turn it off for everyone.
Try it out by making a skin and using the newest snapshot.. simple?
Well, I have a few skins, but I don't know how to use the new layers
The first post in this thing has a template..
WOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW
WOOOOOOOPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAYUH!!!!!
So I just download the template and edit it to make my skin? Sorry, I am just inexperienced.
Yeah. It's the same way a lot of people make normal skins. The top half of the template is the same as current skin. The bottom half of the template has the new 'hat' layers, and extra arm/leg.
The top part is the same! (For downward compatibility?)
The texture image is 64x64. (Old was 64x32.)
All of the #2 parts work like the hat/helmet. (My jacket is really a jacket now. I have also made a red T-Shirt. :3)
The sides are in the same location on each arm and leg. Some textures will need flipping. (I am still working that out on mine.)
Hope this info helps people.
