Yes, he really is there!

A new Snapshot is out!

What got added? Stuff! What got fixed? Bugs! Be sure to report any bugs that didn't get fixed by reporting it to the Mojang Atlassian bug tracker.

You don’t want to run the snapshots on an existing world if you don’t want to run into chunk errors. There is a known issue with world structures such as Nether Fortresses not transitioning to 1.7 from 1.6, but we will be bringing out a 1.6.3 shortly to fix this.

To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.

So, obviously you can't make portels this big...

You can do this though!

Also, has there always been gravel in the nether?

Yes, there has been gravel in the Nether, I think since the Nether was added.

This Update doesn't really add a lot into Minecraft like 1.6 did,in fact it just adds tons of bug fixes..I think it should be called 1.6.3

Yes, let's not count the bunch of biomes and terrain generation changes. On top of that, 1.7 isn't even out yet, they still have time to add more.

Also, have pumpkins been made easier to find? I've been wandering around looking for the new biomes, and I've come across about 7-8 patches of pumpkins so far, and I haven't even gone very far yet.

Not sure if it is new in this snapshot or not... I never saw it in last week's. The biome in the image is a Mesa or Mesa Plateau. It's made up of colored clays.

Yes, they are. In addition, melons are now in the jungle biomes.

The amount of work that it took to clean up the entire executable so that items could be directly named, rather than requiring item ids, was huge. This alone adds a tremendous amount of power for modders to use. Mojang already said that they went through all 255k lines of code and they are not completely done with it. The amount of work taken to redo the terrain generation feature was huge, also. A lot of re-balancing was done so that biomes generate near biomes with compatible temperature and humidity, beside adding a large number of biomes and technical biomes. Whoever is complaining about the update, as was said previously => if you can do better, please do so. Mojang is doing a fantastic job with Minecraft.

Do you ever stop and wonder what exactly went so wrong in Grum's life to traumatize him so badly that he feels the need to hide all the time? ...or is he a spy?

I really like these new features. New biomes, flowers, fishing mechanics, and everything else are some pretty fancy stuff.

By the way, has anyone actually found Grum in the picture, or is the caption a lie and he's not really there?

When Grum first appeared in the 1.6 snapshots, I thought they was going to add him as a mod, maybe to live up the whole HEROBRINE superstition. But its funny seeing him hidden and not-so-hidden whenever a snapshot appears.
