One of the curiosities of Minecraft has always been compass directions. The in-game compass has not ever pointed north, but rather at the player's spawn point. Most people generally assumed that east and west was easily determined by the sun and moon rising and setting, but other things - like cloud movement - always added to the confusion. So, who has the answer?
The humble sunflower!
While many of the upcoming developments of 1.7 have been kept under wraps, Jeb revealed this delightful addition to the game, which is confirmed to always face east! Very nice!
Dinnerbone also gave us a brief look into an upcoming feature which will help with immersion - impact particles! Basically, if you fall more than a certain distance, then you will generate particles from the impact of whatever block you land on. Sweet!
Keep an ear to the ground, because there is a lot more coming up, and you don't want to miss it!
I can't see how Sunflowers are a bad feature at all anyways. It's a small feature that probably took no more than a couple of work hours to complete. The biome changes and new biomes take significantly longer.
You just want to be negative. Grow up, or make your own game if you think everything should be your way.
Exactly. Its not game changing but people are tripping over it like the blast radius of creepers was quadrupled.
I'm not saying that they're BAD, per say... I'm saying that they should be optional. In a mod. And I have to play on 1.6 because 1) My favorite MC server updated to that for some reason, and 2) Better Than Wolves WILL eventually update to 1.6/1.7, so I'm gonna have to get that.
Side note: MasterNorman wasn't hating on them, he was praising them. Seriously.
It's not exactly game-changing. If you don't like the flowers... then don't plant them.
That was easy.
Why is he upside down?
I was talking about the horses.
He's upside down? Ohhh... I thought that that was half of a horse falling lol(still think horses were a bad idea!). And one more thing... You DO realize that 1.6 broke pretty much every mod, ever, right? Still trying to update mine, and it only adds 3 tiny things ATM!
I don't know, maybe in 1.7 you can go sky diving and you'll take more damage but fall faster?
Horses took a lot of work, they're one of the most complex, feature packed mobs we have, be greatful for that. Don't continue to be butthurt that 1.6 wasn't the mob update, because 1.7 is turning out to be a biome/mob update. And once again, they ARE NOT focusing on flowers, they're focusing on biomes and mobs, they're just putting in some smaller features too.
A lot of people with slower graphics cards turn particles off, also you will likely not see them if you're the one falling. So not so interesting.
The sunfowers need another use besides pointing east and looking pretty. I assume the seeds can be used to breed chickens like the pumpkin and watermelon can.
To all the haters above: stop spamming this topic with hatred of Mojang, you don't necessarily need to use anything they add; be MATURE
Thx!
1.6 has upped my FPS by a TON. Previously I would only get 100 fps without optifine then 900 ffs with optifine, now I get 400-600 fps without it. So it's good in that way and the new additions mean more to do for survival servers like my semi-vanilla server.
go play Ace of Spades if you want minecraft with guns >.>
I'll just install emerald tools and armor mod. :3
This would totally ruin the game... I recommend you to install mods
People just argue and complain to have something to do. I don't remember very many complaints when melons were introduced, and look at how much that feature has affected our gameplay....about as much as the sunflower will. I am all for new updates; if they seriously affect my gameplay that's great, if they don't, then I still love them for how aesthetically pleasing they are. I'm not much of a miner or a fighter in this game- I like to play in town roleplay servers and I love to farm and sunflowers will only help the game. Someone who buys the game after 1.7 is introduced is not gonna look at the sunflower the first time they play and be like...."those do not belong here." But yes, thanks to the developers for constantly adding fun features and keeping us on our toes!
The release wasn't cancelled. Your just not getting exactly what you think you were supposed to get. I'm sure Mojang has reasons for not publishing the modding api.
come on, pigs are fun! it is a unique thing about minecraft. horses are too obvious a mode of transportation. Jeb, Dinnerbone, don't just start adding things that make the most sense, keep the level of imagination that made this game so great!
