Time for this week's Snapshot, 13w24a! Comprised mainly of bugfixes, there are a few goodies - or, in the case of textures, laying the foundation for goodies - in store, however!
FEATURES:
- Removed Texture Pack support, added Resource Packs
- Added new gamerule for day-night cycle
- Things and stuff
BUGFIXES:
- Mobs spawn and then quickly despawn in peaceful. Looks like the "ender-porting-out-of-water" effect.
- You can't get "The End?" achievement
- Persistence required tag freezes mobs
- Squids taking damage while in water
- Hard to spawn Squids
- Scoreboard "health" objective set to display "belowname" disconnecting player on multiplayer with end of stream
- Lava texture animation moves too fast / Animated textures ignoring text files
WAIT, MY TEXTURE PACKS LOOK ALL BROKEN AND WRONG AND...:
Nope, there is a new texture system now in place, in preparation for the future of the Mod API!
Quote fromWe’ve been working really hard on the new Resource Pack system, and we think it’s at the point where we can finally push it live. This is a huge step forward for the future mod API and will replace texture packs.
Unfortunately, texture packs will no longer be supported but you can use this fancy tool to automatically convert them! Please report all issues about resource packs, and the snapshot in general, to our bug tracker!
If I stay near the village, it's zombie horde time from sundown to sunup. I can go through 1.5 iron swords killing them all. I've got torches lighting up the surrounding area 30 blocks out from every building, torches lit on each structure, and even the mine below the village cleared out and lit. They still keep coming, an endless conga line. They'll even spawn aboveground right on top of me in well-lit areas (and I don't mean the ones that chance-spawn whenever you kill one). And this is on NORMAL difficulty.
Further, looking at the bug reports, the zombies may be passing through the walls of the village structures, making escape impossible. As the game progresses, the villagers and zombies suffer from rubber-banding. This makes the production of more villagers unlikely, as one tries to mate with another, but can't seem to cross the three blocks separating them without shooting back to his starting point, and the other one loses interest and wanders off.
I appreciate Mojang curing me of my Minecraft addiction for at least a week, but wiping out a whole village was kind of harsh, wasn't it?
in the (pack)/assets/minecraft/PLACE SOUND HERE
NOT THE RESOURCE FOLDER BUT THE STUFF INSIDE IT
(make sure you rename it like in the the .minecraft assets folder A.k.a instead of sound3 just name it sound)

or in my case i can now have my "ain't nobody got time fo dat" sound pack in vanilla !
I journeyed to the Nether for the first time this world and found a Nether fortress! Huzzah! Let me grab some Nether Wart and a few blaze rods and head on back to the small stone-encased portal I made and... why is there only a wall? Where's the portal? Where's the crafting table and chests I made? Where's the stuff I left in the chests?!
I'm guessing a chunk loading error wiped out my portal and most of its protective cover? This needs to be fixed el pronto.
At least I was able to grab enough stone and chests from the fortress to make a few more chests under cover to throw all of my stuff in before I took a level 52 dip in a nearby lava pool.
I'm just hoping they fix the *&$%*$ lag! I finally broke down and installed Optifine, now I'm getting a whole 15 FPS.
It comes out next week
what are we getting now, fake updates?!?!?
Why can't they just add resource packs along with texture packs?
