That's right, the PC version of Minecraft has surpassed 10 million sales! Minecraft as a game continues to have a phenomenal level of success, with humble beginnings in the hands of Mojang founding member Markus "Notch" Persson, and growing over a period of years into one of the most successful indie game titles in gaming history, spanning PC, console, and handheld systems in record numbers. In addition, the recent changes to Minecraft in 1.5 - and future changes planned the game, including Mod API support, more adventure map options, and all sorts of customization options - Mojang continues to push the game to new heights, even as they get involved in the community, with everything from direct-feedback bug fixing to real-life renewal projects. With the recent TU9 update, MCX360 is hot on the PC version's heels, even as it introduces special goodies unique to XBLA gamers.
As promised by Jeb, a secret was revealed about 1.6, a feature many were looking forward to! What feature? Well...
Spoiler: It isn't pink withers!
Well, first off, that is your opinion. Second, maybe this is what Mojang wants from the game. Maybe they want the ability to ride horses. Isn't what Mojang wants really what counts? It is their game, after all, and they don't have to listen to their players. Finally, maybe this is what the community wants as well. After all, mo' creatures, a mod that adds horses to the game, is an extremely successful mod, and Mojang has been known to take mods that are extremely successful (pistons comes to mind, as well as improved mine carts, rails, redstone logic, weather, and a wealth of other features) and put them in the vanilla. It's quite obvious that this is what the majority of the community wants and if you don't like that, then you can either deal with it or code your own version of the game to your liking.
Well I don't think those are y crap and plus my favorite subject in minecraft is redstone and the redstone update what adds the best redstone stuff
Well ok
While I do see your point here, I'd like to point out that none of these intricate features must absolutely be learned in order to get what you want out of minecraft. You don't absolutely need to learn redstone logic to do what the players you talk about want to do. Minecraft is still straight forward. Building a house, mining, and farming, are all still at the core of the game and can be done without even getting into redstone logic, monster grinders, or making adventure maps. Mojang has done a wonderful thing by making the game so that the more complex stuff is like a side thing you do only if you absolutely want to.
No thanks, Ill pass you on my horse and ride into the sunset speeding fast
I'm gonna say the same thing I said earlier, the point of minecraft is still to mine, farm, build a house, and survive. You can still do those three basic things and not even touch redstone logic or horses. These features are not something you have to do but something you can do. They're optional. That's the beauty of a sandbox game like minecraft, the features will never get in the way of the basic things that the game is all about.
I'm tired of all these people thinking that the new updates are gonna kill Minecraft. I've been here since Minecraft was around 3 million sales and there were people just like you it has lasted well over a year and triple the amount of sales since then so your logic is nonsensical. Might I add that wolves are old and nobody complains, Horses will be amazing if Mojang makes them right (which I trust they will) and the Redstone Update made redstone easier more expansive and gave some actual uses for it while playing survival mode.
BURN!!!!
I actually agree with you. But I think some players may have the idea that the fact that all of these features are in Minecraft at all invalidates playing the game without using them, which is entirely untrue. Just because 1.5 introduced TNT Minecarts and Activator Rails doesn't mean you have to use them to mine, or use Hoppers to make some kind of storage organization machine. Nothing in the game forces you to do so. But at the same time, having the ability to do these things can make players feel left out if they don't want to go through the trouble. That might be what people are worried about with the introduction of horses: players might feel that if they don't use them, they won't be playing the game correctly, and may feel behind out for wanting to play without them.
Of course there is no "correct" way to play Minecraft. Like you said, the core concepts of the game still exist, and are just as fun without utilizing new features. People shouldn't feel forced to use them in gameplay if they don't want to.
This would make them useful.
Too useful.
Mojang will never implement.
Except DrZhark is helping, and his version of horses actually can do this, AND the image of a horse Jeb posted looked EXACTLY like a Mo'Creatures horse.
So I wouldn't say they would never do it.
well I looked at the hex code of the pic and I found a tag saying Paint.net meaning it was edited in someway.
But I am sure there is some hidden stuff or the ACTUAL new feature is something like the small rocks.
