That's right, the PC version of Minecraft has surpassed 10 million sales! Minecraft as a game continues to have a phenomenal level of success, with humble beginnings in the hands of Mojang founding member Markus "Notch" Persson, and growing over a period of years into one of the most successful indie game titles in gaming history, spanning PC, console, and handheld systems in record numbers. In addition, the recent changes to Minecraft in 1.5 - and future changes planned the game, including Mod API support, more adventure map options, and all sorts of customization options - Mojang continues to push the game to new heights, even as they get involved in the community, with everything from direct-feedback bug fixing to real-life renewal projects. With the recent TU9 update, MCX360 is hot on the PC version's heels, even as it introduces special goodies unique to XBLA gamers.
As promised by Jeb, a secret was revealed about 1.6, a feature many were looking forward to! What feature? Well...
Spoiler: It isn't pink withers!
Quoting someone else talking about birds. It wouldn't be too far fetched, especially if this IS a mob update.
So yeah, if you read this, keep in mind that I know why the game has to change in big ways. Because people need new stuff to play with. That's just how it works I suppose.
Be able to hunt with birds? Use birds to map areas further away? Use birds as a freaking bad*** pet? You tell me. I want me some real birds, not friggin bats for chrissake.
But seriously, the Redstone update is extremely useful, why do you think it was a foolish addition?
Ok, getting just a little mad here, because Jeb ALREADY posted a PICTURE of him on a horse IN MINECRAFT. On his instagram @jebkhaile.
Most of us are aware. Those who are not will learn in time. Or they'll be ignorant.
I always thought that horses would be a natural fit to this game. Hopefully they'll give you something like sprinting speed over blocky terrain, so you can properly explore large biomes. Perhaps a natural aversion to going off cliffs. Maybe they'll make use of that hay block we saw a glimpse of. Good excuse to build some stables. Perhaps it can even drag a cart (slowing it down to human walking speed).
This and tinted glass would make this update for me. 1.5 has enough new content to keep me happy for a while. Remember paying $60 for a lousy game expansion pack, with slight modifications? Yeah, those were the days 8). Minecraft is the best gaming bargain there ever was. Best game ever too!
How come every time they add a new animal to the game, people act
like it's going to upset some sort of sacred balance which maintains the
extremely boring and lifeless "feel" of Minecraft? It's a horse. Get over it.
If you don't like horses, don't ride them. If you get owned on a PvP server
by a guy riding a horse because you refuse to ride a horse yourself, that's
your own stupid fault for
a. Not training with your bow enough to shoot something as large as a horse
before it can get you
b. Refusing to ride a horse to get away due to your fanatical devotion
to the "OMG MIRENCAFT THEEME".
Something I don't think people realize about Minecraft is that it is not supposed to be realistic, but fun. I think horses will be great because:
1) We don't really have any form of free-roam travel rather than walking or, well, pigs.
2)Wouldn't it be awesome if while you are walking in a forst, restocking wood, you see a horse? And then you go up to it, feed it some apples, go through a taming session, and then get a pet that finally has a really good use for it?
One thing I'm worrying about though is making it too easy. I want then to be rare, and hard to tame (Maybe even different horses being harder/easier to tame?). Being able to go up to one, give ot a few apples and putting a saddle on it would just be boring and not very special.
