Don't forget, if you come across any bugs, be sure to report them at the official Minecraft bug tracker, so they can be ironed out before release! Also, if you are a texture pack artist, don't forget that blocks and items will no longer load their artwork from one big sheet of sprites. Instead, they’ll have individual files for each image they’re using. The benefit from this is that it will be easier for Mojang to support custom blocks and items in the future. It will also allow Mojang to mix and match block artwork resolutions, and make sure that you get graphics for blocks that your current texture pack isn't updated for.
automatic crafting benches.
rig up hoppers to crafting bench (for input and output), put a pattern in the crafting bench, and so long as the required materials exist in the input hopper, it will start crafting the item and sending the result to the output hopper.
then, say, a person can create a machine that automatically converts netherrack into netherbrick fences, or glass into glass panes, or similar...
also, +1 to the idea of up/down firing droppers.
I think the hopper pipe is more worth than the pipes from tekkit (and other mods like it) because it has the function of many pipes from these industrial mods.
Well they are faster than the hopper, going 12 blocks in 4 ticks w/ redstone system that easy to hook up, but other than that they are pretty useless. The upward and downward thing could just add another function making them more useful. They also look better than the hopper but thats about it.
You can do precision drops with them. Drop/Release exactly the amount needed instead of attempting to use hoppers which are somewhat random.
My auto-furnace is going to be awesome with none of the inefficiencies I was worried about before.
Other good thing is that it allows arrows, eggs, etc. to drop out rather than be fired.
I'm really not sure we really needed a whole new block, but am glad to have the functionality.
Also the only thing that interests me about this snapshot is the stronger mobs. I still have to test it out though.
This could make droppers more useful. these are better reason to adding the dropper to the game and I always thought the dispenser needed to shoot/use more things. the dropper adds a new things to them.
I thought this was a good point you can build lots of cool games as well with the new redstone stuff i built a working capture the flag with nothing but minecraft no mods needed, it keep track of score, respawn and what team your one and reset the coarse by it self. this will be a general win for everyone because of the games and things we can make.
I discovered that trapped chests and normal chests both render with the normal chest's texture in your inventory. I assume this was probably either an oversight or unimportant since... well they are nearly identical in default. But it bothers the crap out of me because I changed their textures to make it easier to Identify the trapped ones for storage purposes/in storage. Is that worth reporting being that it's not so much a bug as a tiny oversight and more of a personal irritation?
Well the only way to tell the difference between the chest, without opening them, is to look closely around the area of the button on the chest. In the case of the actual chest, the area around it is a darker bluish color, while the trap chest is a brighter red color
I know the differences between them, as I said, I changed the chest so they would be more identifiable. Hoping that it would make it easier to tell when I had a trapped chest in my inventory verses a regular chest without having to mouse over. I simply want to know if I should report such a minor oversight.
that's that i'm hoping for or at least anything to differentiate the dispenser from the dropper other than some very small additions that could have been added to the dispenser otherwise the dropper seems somewhat poitless
I personnally do not understand the actual meaning of that sentence!
Basically, in the sentence structure
"Doing A no longer needs B, but has to have C"
It should always be possible to split the sentence into 2 simpler ones.
Like in the following example:
"Bob is no longer a cop, but has children"
can be split into:
"Bob is no longer a cop"
and
"Bob has children",
which both make sense.
But when
"Creating an infinite water source no longer needs a block underneath, but has to have a water source block."
is split into
"Creating an infinite water source no longer needs a block underneath."
and
"Creating an infinite water source has to have a water source block."
The second sentence doesn't make any sense at all! It's bad syntax, plain and simple.
Just what thing exactly in the "Creating an infinite water source" thing, does the "has to have a water source block"?
Just what exactly "has to have" a water source block?
And how does it work exactly? And which water source block has to be had?
Does it mean that you have to provide a block of water source using a bucket? Or what?
Please explain a little bit better!
If it will shoot out pumpkin pies that is a win right there . Creeper comes to your door , dispenser launches pie , queue up the theme song to the Benny Hill show , hilarity ensues...
You can now create an infinate source block without a normal block under it, but you will need to have a source block below it if you do not have a different block below it.
So...
[~][w][a][w][~]
[~][~][w][~][~]
The ~ are blocks, the w are infinite water sources and the a is the spot you want to fill with an infinite source. Before, both source blocks would flow into that spot not filling the spot. Now that will create an infinite water source, making water much more... infinite, and hopefully that will mean that when you place a block in water and then have to remove it it will "heal" the source block and not leave annoying patterns in the water.
Where as this
[~][w][a][w][~]
[~][~][a][~][~]
Will not work, both sources will flow into the hole and not make an infinite source between them and above the air.
Hear, hear! I agree with you 200%
Use 1.4.7 for this (so you can see the problem):
Go to a shallow (1 meter deep) pool of water, at least 2x2.
Use a bucket to take some water.
Notice that the water magically refills the spot you took it from.
Go to a deeper area of water (more than 1 meter deep).
Use a bucket to take some water.
Notice that the water now has this weird flow thing towards the water you took.
This is the bug that was fixed. If you do the same steps in the new snapshot, both things you do will act like the first one.
I agree though that the sentence could have used some TLC
