Okay a list of everything.
To make a firework star is: dye + gunpowder
Add in: dyes for more colors, glowstone for twinkle effect, firecharge for large ball, gold nugget for star shape

You can add a dye to the finished star to make it fade to that color.

To make a rocket is: paper + star + gunpowder
Add in: gunpowder for longer range, another firework star for overlapping explosions

Adding a feather to the star recipe makes a burst and the color you add after changes the color of the tips instead of fading.

Also, adding a diamond gives it a trail.

So is it just me, or is anyone else finding that enchanted books don't check the item type or stack size? I just made (in survival mode!) an enchanted book with efficiency 4 and then enchanted a stack of fish with it, and all 64 fish got the enchantment. I wonder if there's going to be a 12w49b

This is 1.4.6, not 1.5.

1.4.6 will be bugfix and fireworks (To New Year's Eve), and 1.5 is the Redstone update and Mod API.

Fireworks, ace. Unfortunatly it's not new. There have been at least 2 mods that already added fireworks to the game. Still, it's nice to have :).
Not another damned update for 1.4. It was a halloween update, and it's STILL being worked on at Christmas... come on, do some proper testing mojang!

well, i'm gonna have to make an awesome new years fireworks build now this is so awesome... now to wait for what comes next...(also enchanting fish with knockback is pretty funny)

I think the enchanting books make it too easy to get good Diamond gear since you don't have to go through the risk of dozens of bad enchantments before getting one you like. I personally had to do 12 (literally) level 30 Diamond Pickaxe enchantments before I got a Silk Touch one. It also took me 4 Diamond Armor sets worth of level 30 enchantments to get a good armor set together. I understand it costs more experience, Iron and Leather because you have to use the Anvil but more of those doesn't equal up to the Diamonds. This is because you can get experience easily from mob farms, Iron from mining or Iron Golem farms and Leather from breeding and killing cows.

The ingredients for the fireworks should be; gunpowder + any color dye.
I don't want them to add another item that serves one purpose. The firework star is not needed.

I think the takeaway from this is that 1.5 has now slipped to February, so they want the fireworks to come out before they become useless until next year, most people only shoot fireworks at new years, we Americans shoot them in July as well, but that is our holiday.

Anyone who thought the mod API was coming in 1.5 is a touch naive. They will probably begin putting pieces of it into the code, but they really don't even have the API designed yet, and it's REALLY hard to code something you have not designed.

As to the fireworks, it would have been an ok mod for someone to do, nothing I would bother downloading or installing, but that seems to be the bulk of what Mojang has been adding for a while now, stuff that would have been an ok mod.

This looks great, i just downloaded, but for some reason, the fire works will launch, but the explosion does not appear.

Wait...Fireworks? That's not new at all! I use TNT all the time to make fireworks.

Sadly they don't make colors though...

Anyway pretty awesome update or I think it will be.

Enchanted books might be useful...Will we get to have multiple enchants on them and will they not take as much xp? I'm curious...

Been messing around with it, and it seems that the nether just renders weird whenever it's on a server.
Generated the world and the nether in singleplayer, no problems, moved it on over to the server, started it up and it looked all buggy.

To all the people hating on Mojang for this, relax.
I understand you want the API, but , In reality, FML will work just fine up until that point.

I am very pleased that Mojang is adding things to the game like this. The bats and fireworks are cool, and the enchant books are quite helpful

Does anyone know what the witherarmor.png in the armor folder is for?
