DAMNIT! Why do they have to delay the updates? Honestly I looked at the updates and all bugs appear to be labeled "RESOLVED". WTH? WHY-H-HYYY?!!! >_< :FUUUUU:
1.4.0 and 1.4.1 both had critical bugs that required a 1.4.2 pre-release, no really major bugs were found there so it became the release.
The bug tracker has been receiving a lot of bugs, Dinnerbone and Jeb and that have been going through those bug reports and fixing them.
During those fixes, they released a 1.4.3 pre-release, unfortunately, that pre-release had some pretty bad bugs in it, reduced framerate for one (i have a friend who on our vanilla 1.4.2 server can get 80FPS no mods, but when we upgraded to 1.4.3 he was getting 40fps no mods and random lag spikes), plus the can't swim against the stream water bug.
So, they release a 1.4.4pre-release (hopefully soon). If no major bugs are found in that pre-release it will become the next update, however, if people find bad bugs in that one too, then we will get a 1.4.5pre-release, and so the cycle will keep going until no more bad bugs.
so theres no ETA for 1.4.4? I know its coming soon, but I would like to know it when its going to be released, modders can't start modding lol if Jeb_ keeps updating
This is getting pretty stupid now. 1.4 is meant to be the full game version, not a development version, but that seems to be what they are making it into now.
They had 1.4.0 and 1.4.1 pre-release, but needed 1.4.2, ok fine. They released 1.4.2 fully, and now they are STILL updating on that.
They should really be putting the new stuff in 1.5 snapshots, and not continously updating the full version.
No way that Minecraft is going to be finished next year, or the year after! No! No! It is going to 2.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO DOUBT! YOU GUYS KNOW IT TO BE TRUE!

The use of version numbers is arbitrary and completely up to the developers. Didn't we get to beta 1.9 and then return to 1.0?
Since these are mainly small bugfixes, there's no need to increase the minor version. They are probably saving the fifth minor for the Mod Api update.
EDIT: WTH? We skipped over 1.4.1, now we're skipping over 1.4.3. Is it even numbers only now?
It's like the Star Trek Movies Curse.
I know! That is so confusing! Why is there no 1.4.1 or 1.4.3?
bt dubs
@chrisandthemike <3 lol
