DON'T PANIC -- Regarding "Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!"
We have managed to identify the 3rd party, who is well known to be trusted, as the source of the script. They have been contacted about the compromise, and have removed the malicious script being served to not only Curse, but possibly everyone with whom they work. They are still investigating the breach.
Curse takes security extremely seriously, and has removed all 3rd party ad partners until the investigation is complete. We will keep you informed of the outcome of this investigation. In the meantime, we recommend you run a malware scan on your computer. You can run a free scan at http://www.malwarebytes.org/. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
At no time was any information in our databases compromised - your logins, user info, and all other personal information is safe and sound! We will continue to monitor the situation, just to be on the safe side.
Yeah, Firefox has their own version of the page. They (google, mozilla) all seed from the same database.
Hopefully this issue gets fixed. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go load up Spybot to make sure nothing bad happened to my computer.
Same, using chrome too.
I'd rather do something constructive.
I'll grab my voodoo dolls.
Sorry
The advert team are working their hearts out to fix the issue! Here is a recreation of the scene in the curse office performed by Jim Carrey:

The strange part if it's an issue with an advertisement, why am I still getting it even though I use AdBlock Plus?
fwiw we've never had any confirmation of malware being delivered through our system before; if you ever suspect this website or any other curse network site being infected please contact me immediately and I'll push it to the higher ups to be investigated. Malware is absolutely not something we want to have our users exposed to; it's just shady advertisers responsible for it. We gain nothing, it just destroys our reputation
Perhaps this thread should be reposted as an announcement on the front page?
gotta stay off that porn as well bro. it'll do it to you too.
Google's database has the whole www.minecraftforum.net domain marked as dangerous regardless of the user's browser and extensions. You could be browsing with the most secure text-only browser, but as long as it checks Google's database for dangerous websites, it'll display a warning too.
And as a side note, the Chrome edition of AdBlock Plus still loads the ads in the background. It just doesn't display them.
