12w34a Snapshot Available for Testing!

The Snapshot

We have seen some interesting teaser pics from Dinnerbone over the last few weeks, and this Snapshot includes a number of features related to those screenshots! A number of these will be familiar to everyone - item frames, stone walls, dyed armor - but there are a number of additional awesome features not mentioned before! Check out the full list below:

Added item frames
Added cobblestone walls (yes, mossy too)
Maps now align to a grid, making it easier to create adjacent maps. Maps can also be cloned
Stairs now auto-arrange into corners. This is a test and may change based on feedback
Mobs can travel through portals
Leather clothes can be dyed
Removed the “wip block” from the creative menu
Added two new crops and associated items
F3+P will toggle the auto-pause when the window loses focus (it’s for debugging, mainly)
F3+H will toggle detailed item descriptions (also for debugging)
Added arrow-sensitive wooden buttons
Trapdoors can be placed in top-most position (based on cross-hair aim)

Minecon Registration to Open Soon; PAX Contest

Registration for Minecon 2012 isn't far off now; the official registration site is expected to be live in less than 24 hours, but actual registration for the convention will not be possible until some time next week. Links to the registration site (and the exact time that registration opens) will be revealed in the near future.

MineTV Updates

The video above is a highlight reel of MineTV's Episode 3, with mod maker and hilarious commentator Pahimar! Very nice update. However, a bug I found was that the server won't allow you to put things on the walls. At least not in mine anyway. But other than that, a great update. I like where 1.4 is going.

Is it new that tall grass burns? I lit a fire in plains and it spread a lot.

EDIT: Did they increase fire spread rate?? I lit a bunch of leaves and wood and plank and it burned FAST.

EDIT 2: They increased the fire spread rate. I did a test on a 8x16 piece of all, and it spread VERY quickly. This DID NOT happen before.

Ohmygosh I just realized something! The wither doesn't have three heads, it's holding two of the wither skull things. So really, it looks like a large Steve "phantom" holding skulls. It has a ribcage but no legs. It appears to be an undead player. O.o

Guys, can you test out the increased fire spread rate thing? For me, the fire looked just like the old rate. Maybe a little less, but still a lot. Anyone know how to upload a PNG? I took a screenshot.

some of this stuff is HUGE
-mobs traveling through portals, bring your pig farm into the nether? hell, set up a village in the nether! Just for fun!
-hanging up multiple adjacent maps you could easily make a world map of your minecraft world and put copies of it at important locations
-whoa whoa, two new crops?
-WOODEN BUTTONS! I remember the easter bunny boss fight someone used boats or something bizarre in order to make lamps that reacted to arrows. THIS IS SO MUCH EASIER.

You do realize that the golden carrot is used for the potion of night vision? And what's wrong with adding more foods?

GUYS I GOT THE WITHER!!!!

I modded my jar and it somehow got the wither
I tested it on my server and it WORKED! Just put this in your jar or server don`t read the item it will crash (use it at your own risk)
Just right-click with the egg and it will span a wither
adf.ly/CA0YP

This is how you instal it

Step 1. download the jv.class
Step 2. Install 12w34a
Step 3. open up the 12w34a jar
Step 4. Just drag in the jv.class as usual
Step 5. DELETE META INF

Open your minecraft
Make sure your on a sevrer that haves it or on a Cheatmode Singleplayer
Type in /give (Name) 383 1 64
Right-click the ground BAM!
USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK!

You use shears to collect them. You can do the same with tall grass and ferns.
