Changelog:
- The block-breaking animation is now shown while the GUI is hidden.
- TNT no longer does damage to players in peaceful difficulty.
- Respawning in superflat is no longer random.
- Added rotatable Wood blocks
- Strongly decreased the amount of Experience you get from furnaces
- Depending on difficulty, creeper damage is scaled now
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed a few misalignments and oddities in the item spritesheet and the creative mode's inventory's graphics.
- Fixed a crash bug.
- Fixed the chest armor slot being inaccessible in Creative mode's survival inventory tab.
- Fixed rotated wooden logs mined using Silk Touch enchanted tools dropping as rotated wooden logs.
- Fixed being unable to place half slabs in the small gaps between another half slab and the side of another block.
Bugs:
- There is a visual bug when trying to push someone off a cliff, they fall off then warp back.
- Sometimes when pushing someone off a cliff they do fall - you are not meant to be able to push people as of 12w23a.
- It appears to be a server-side feature only, yet has not been applied to the client so far, as you can still push mobs or other entities in singleplayer.
- It also appears to be a PvP-only feature. In SMP, you can still push mobs and entities too.
- When standing still in the same place as another player the other player glitches about.
- Player occasionally gets hurt from touching a wall mainly when being pushed by water into a block.
- Player can be damaged when standing in front of a villager attempting to open a door. This may tie into the suffocation bug listed above, or might be something with the way the villager opens the door.
As always, you can check out the full changelog at the official Minecraft Wiki (click here!) - more updates, articles and videos will go up today. Keep an eye out!

Mod API Feedback Wanted
EvilSeph wants your feedback for the upcoming Mod API! Head on over to his thread by clicking here, read through the proposals, and give your feedback!
It means that if someone else is breaking a block *or you* you will see the animation of them breaking it, or they will see you breaking a block. To help with mining the same block.
Yes, I think so too, there are multiple reasons 1.3.1 sucks, I broke my DNS Better than Technic modpack for this horrible update and now I'm not gonna play minecraft for a while.
Um, yes exactly! Why wouldn't they make it easier? Did you expect them to do it the long hard way?!
-
As for Magnamious,
Mine doesn't crash at all. But I guess it depends on what kind of machine you're using.
I know I'm new to the game, having started only about 6 weeks ago (v. 1.25) but I've NEVER gotten experience from furnaces. I also see I now get experience for mining ore and coal. That's new to me too! Was I missing out all this time?
Also, I don't know if it was intended, but my hunger bar drains in easy as fast as it would in hard. Is hunger drain speed universal now?
Theres over 250 things added in 1.3.1.
You can see the whole list here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Version_history#1.3.1
In the snapshots you used to get a large amount of experience from furnaces, which wasnt available in 1.2.5. They just reduced it down in 1.3.1
I don't get it either! I am playing it a bunch on a low-end laptop and the framerate is higher than it's ever been!
I actually like the SMP merge. I like the idea of being able to put all of the multiplayer bugs on the singleplayer side, and just be able to squish them on one program. Also, when the mods start to update for 1.3.1, it will encourage mod developers to make their mods multiplayer-compatible! My friend and I always hated it when we would find a mod that we both liked that didn't work in multiplayer.
1.3.1 has been a great update, in my minor opinion. The only "game breakers" that have been introduced would be:
Water Current Push + Block = Damage
And, the more (again, my opinion) important:
Go to Nether + Return from Nether + Go to Nether = Free trip to Void
I can see how the first, could have been missed. But the second...Mojang!!!
Dost thou have play testers? I mean, that kind of bug should have been experienced LONG before it was a snapshot (let alone a full release)
All well, other than those two issues. I have run into nothing that has made my gameplay "bad".
As for FPS issues, I run a server AND play the game on the same machine. Which means I am running two servers now, since the client is a server too. No lag. This computer is an "off the shelf" ACER that was 1000 bucks. I don't have the exact specs, needless to say it is NOT top of the line. It wasn't that 3 years ago when I bought it.
Sorry that all you folks are having these problems. 1.3.1 has been a great update, if you get to experience it as I have. (Minus the above of course.)
Again, Mojang, two words: Play testers.
Or, three words: MORE play testers
PS: We are not play testers, even though that is what the snapshots are for. Just because our feedback is not listened to, or these bugs would have been quashed after the "pre-release"
