Server: Download
Yes, modders and texture pack artists can breathe a sigh of relief: the 1.3 Pre-Release is finally here! Rather than cover every nuance of the previous Snapshots, let's look at the most salient changes in 1.3:
- The game now runs an internal server in single-player mode
- The single-player server can be shared on LAN, with LAN server detection
- Made it possible to use client-side commands by enabling cheats (this is defaulted as disabled for old worlds)
- Added an optional “bonus chest” to get started quicker
- It’s now possible to trade with villagers. Added emeralds as a currency
- You gain enchantment orbs from other tasks than just destroying monsters. Max enchantment level has been decreased to 30
- Servers can automatically suggest and distribute texture packs
- Added new world map elements (does not need a new map, but they’ll only appear in new areas)
- Added cocoa beans
- Added an Ender chest
- Added tripwire
- Stairs and levers can be placed up-side-down
- Wooden logs can be placed sideways
Additionally, Mojang is hosting a special contest! What is it about? Well, let's hear what they have to say:
That is pretty sweet! Think you have what it takes to make a 30-second 1.3 commercial? Give it a shot - you just might win!

MCX360 Fix Incoming - Pistons & More
MCX360 will be getting a fix in the near future, with a particular focus on piston-related crashes, some rendering issues, and a host of other minor bugs. The fix may take up to two weeks for deployment, but once it does, it will automatically update the MCX360 client on its own. Keep an eye here for future updates!
I actually like the fact that you need leather to make books. It gives leather more use besides being weak armour. Plus I always like having more things to do in-game - now I can make searching for leather a priority on top of getting sugarcane, extending the gameplay length. Plus, it's more realistic - three pieces of paper don't make a book without binding.
Regarding logs, now that they can rotate sideways does that mean that tree "branches" will start being sideways, or will they remain as they are? I'm also not too keen on apparently having to jump and place the block from above to make it non-sideways - IMO, they should make left clicking place the log the normal way we're used to, and use right-click to place it sideways.
And about the "new world map elements" - what do those entail? I hear they added back mountains/bigger hills in non-Extreme Hills biomes; does that make the terrain look more like it did in pre-biome Minecraft?
sorry jeb but notch was better
Hahahahah NO.
I love the inventory.
I will rip your flesh!! Um, I mean.. you suck? Okay. bYe.
Try completely deleting your entire .minecraft folder, then re-downloading it. To find .minecraft, (on windows) do this:
Press (Windows Key)+R, then type %appdata% in the box and hit 'Run'. then click on .minecraft and delete it. A word of caution, however: this will delete your entire minecraft save, and start you from square 1. Also try to delete minecraft.exe and re-download that as well. If you still have problems, try logging in on another computer. If the problem still exists, it is your account and you need to get tech support.
1st post btw! : D
2. Placing raw wood is near impossibility, same goes to stairs (Please add option, if you press shift down you will place the wood normally)
3. Other than that, great. (Oh! and creepers are scary)
(Tested with 1.3.1 pre-release)
It works for most part.
