Features:
- You can now use “/publish” to open your single-player game for LAN friends to join. This is still very much work in progress, so it lacks some necessary settings such as what game mode your friends will get, and if they should be able to use cheats or not. Also, the “/publish” command is temporary, you can’t even access it if you haven’t enabled cheats =)
- The Ender Chest has been changed to have an inventory per player and not per world. Also, knocking down the chest will break it into 8 obsidian, unless you have Silk Touch.
- The texture pack folder button now works on Mac
Fixes:
- Fixed bug when Minecraft doesn't save your progress, stops generating chunks and freezes all the mobs.
- Fixed the Enderdragon not dealing any damage to the player after it has been hit once
- Fixed explosions not pushing back players
- Fixed buckets not picking up or placing water within the spawn protection

I come to the forums, first thing I see:
Snapshot 12w24a is Ready for Testing!
Initial reaction: *facedesk*
After applying the bandages from initial reaction: "Meh. At least the Ender Chest is getting tweaked..."
As for ender chests, it's nice to see an option for secure multi-location storage, but I'd love to have a faction-oriented secure storage.
The world has to have cheats enabled. Use /publish and it will give you an IP that your friend puts into multiplayer. You both have to be on the same Wifi network or it won't work.
That was my thought exactly as I saw the added features and bug fix list. I feel as if 1.3 is right around the corner.
When my sister tries to get onto my world with my ip, it says can't resolve hostname.
help!
That happened to me too. The way my brother and I fixed it:
1. Both players close out Minecraft
2. One player opens the single player world and uses /publish
3. Second player uses that IP
4. ?????
5. Profit
Sorry, I don't know how to fix that. I suggest just doing what I told DistortedDorian to do.
1. Yeah, that's probably what'll happen.
2. I read that in Fluttershy's voice.
Altough I'd like to have a different kind of chest that works how enderchests did previously for single player, considering I don't play multi, at all.
And I still can't play the game on account of it bugging up and not letting blocks drop when broken and not letting me interact with blocks like chests or furnaces.
:[
Edit: Who CARES when 1.3 comes out?!?!? Don't you impatient pricks have other things to do besides Minecraft?? At least you can PLAY the game, I can't even get that.
I had this same thought, but if Mojang is moving to a new office and there have been a whole bunch of other distractions, productivity could likely be shot to hell as well.
I'm not sure what I think of the change to the Ender chest. I hate the thing in the first place, where particularly for multiplayer servers it will be a major pain in the ass for some situations and really nerfs economic concepts in terms of logistics, but I don't think my bitching about it will make much of a difference. For Single player situations, the Ender Chest really is just an expansion of your backpack. I'd rather have the ability to make another kind of backpack (out of leather, iron, gold, etc.) that would allow you to hold more items. From that perspective, having the Ender chest breakup into pieces as you try to remove the thing is more "meh?" Whatever... I may use the chest in future situations or I may not.
