Over the last week in Snapshots, we have seen a lot of exciting things coming up - Ender Chests, villager trading, the merging of SSP and SMP modes into a fluid, single system - what else could possibly be added to this pile of goodies to make it even better? We can think of one thing - tripwires.
Nathan "Dinnerbone" Adams uploaded this video showing off some experiments with tripwire - it appears that it can be set off by crossing the tripwire boundary (as expected), as well as being set off by "using" it much as one would use a switch or button. What other awesome features are on the horizon? We'll keep you posted as they develop!

A Minecraft Wedding
Anyone in attendance at Minecon 2011 will undoubtedly remember - Matt's proposal to Asia on-stage, alongside Mojang! Their marriage is now official, and the wedding ceremony was something any dedicated Minecraft fan could be proud of - Minecraft-themed Jones Soda, which features many of the in-game items and creatures; a number of high-quality character model statues that were on the showroom at Minecon including Steve, creeper and more. There were also a number of hand-made pieces for their ceremony made by the happy couple and friends, such as Minecraft trees and other bits of the world. Other gems included a Minecraft-diamond necklace, and - something no Minecraft party should be without - a Minecraft cake.
From everyone here at the Minecraft Forum, we would like to congratulate Matt and Asia on having easily the most awesome wedding in history, and wish the happy couple well!

i agree pressure plates would be way harder to see even if these things could be hidden in walls, made no noise, and were not very easily to mine, ... well also you can't really do any resetable traps with the things ...
and yes, with pistons we've all seen how to make even a simple piston door and it involves all the stuff where the player can't see exept the pressure plates and in some kinds once you are on the inside a piston or two but ... well my suggestion is: eather make the wire actualy TRIP the player (which would be hularios if you put lava right after it) or make the string work like the rope in the zipline mod (that mod has been somthing that vannila has NEEDed from the begining)
No one is understanding. The string texture is out of place. The only reason its hardly visible is because the pixels are too small. Do you get it? DO YOU UNDA STAND BRAH?
Now please...stop complaining, some people want this.
Well you never directly said it. To be honest though the string texture very well could be 16x or less. It looks repeated 4 times on one block
So once again small pixels, but doesn't really look HD. I don't see a problem with it, especially from the benefits of the smaller pixels.
If I had more time, I would make a "25 uses of tripwires that can't be done with pressure plates" thread.
I seriously don't get why you hate it so much that you have to hate on it using 3+ different accounts.
Here's a use I haven't heard brought up, mob filtering.
Different mobs have different heights, so you could use a vertical stack of tripwires and logic gates to filter mobs.
For instance, you could make one that only activates for chickens (when walking) as they are only one block high, and one only for endermen (as they are very tall).
Here's one I'm going to do:
A piston bridge (that pops out from a wall) that as a whole stays activated when you are on it (1 tripwire across), or one that activates as you are walking across it (many tripwires).
I think somebodies jealous.
That animal? kinda looks like a sheep but kinda not..
Lolno I only have one account, one username, for everything.
Have you seen an HD texture pack?
Anyway, my point is, it's really out of place, just by the texture alone. That's all I should really point out here, and if you scale the pixels to the correct size again, then it has no purpose, as the main purpose is that you can hardly see it. Also, the model for the hook is a little too complicated... It's not blocky enough.
Overall it's a good idea, but it just should not be implemented into the game, at least not in its current form. It would make for a great mod, but as a vanilla feature it just doesn't sit right with the theme of Minecraft.
In a lot of places they would be easy to see, just like pressure plates, but if placed on snow or white wool, they would be pretty much impossible to see unless you notice the hit box.
I mean here, twitter, and youtube (probably more places).
I don't think it looks all that out of place.
And it's already in.
Please test before you post. This snapshot fixes it so that you can pause again.
As for the tripwire, I see it as more for adventure map makers along with the new adventure mode.
You can get one too!

1. Minecraft is not an RPG!
2. Minecraft is not an RPG! (“Hey guys look! I can pwn all of you at PVP because I've played this game 24/7! Yippee!!!”)
3. Changing names doesn't help griefers.
4. Notch said that Minecraft wasn't going to be a RPG. (Guess he sort of forgot, though, seeing the game as it is now.)
5. Like what? ("6" and "7" aren't "better ideas.)
6. Griefers and RPG-addicts.
7. Okay, that would actually be nice.
Overall, a “Can't tell if trolling or stupid,” post that I give :-( ): . (Not 0 because of 1 okay idea and not “txt tlkng” (text talking).)
