Important news for all folks that love game jams; The "What Would Molydeux?" game jam has been a big event this weekend. For those not familiar with the event, this particular game jam came into existence by tweets made from @petermolydeux, often satirical and over-the-top, in an attempt to poke fun at eccentric game developer Peter Molyneux. Some of the ideas have apparently garnered genuine interest as potential game titles, andnow, there’s a 48-hour game development challenge built around the concept; it is taking place all over the world. Funny enough, Peter Molyneux himself has taken a personal interest in the event, and has attended the London event in person, both check it out, but also to recruit people for his new game developer startup.
"Molyjam" - as it has come to be known - has become a global event, from the places like San Francisco, New York, New Zealand, Finland, Germany, Brazil, Sweden, Mexico, and more. In this video, co-organizer Chris Remo talks a bit about the event, what sort of ideas fly around, the process behind it, and more. Check it out!

Interesting new game, and yeah, probably an April Fool's day gag, like Sach suggested at the very bottom. The features did look a bit sketchy (especially "waist high walls").
Saw it from IGN first, they think it's a joke, but I hope it's real.
It is a joke. Indeed this is "old news" even so it is hard to even say "You saw it here first."
This has appeared on both Slashdot and Reddit (slightly different reactions on both sites) and was even mentioned on this forum too. The game is real, just not the name nor the website, nor really many of the specs that are listed on that website.
This is sort of sad where they re-told a joke so horribly that it no longer is funny.
What is interesting is if Notch can write up the idea, he doesn't mind if someone else makes the game. The cool part is, and he may not be aware of it, but there are already 3D engines that are doing what he wants. Like Going anywhere in the universe and landing on Planets. The Outerra engine, which I am happy to be a BETA tester of, is doing that very thing right now. Its proven concept already and you can look it up on youtube. The latest 2012 videos are the best so far.

Example 2012 :
Keep in mind, the pictures show planes and helicoptors and a space station. They were originally made in mind for a flight simulator. But.. the engine is what drives all of that. The engine is what people will be able to use to do anything they want. Make any universe or game they desire.
Why is this even ON the "Minecraft fourm"? It has little to nothing to do with Minecraft, and, even though it is amusing, it still is very off topic and, if posted at all, should be posted in the correct section.
Did anyone else see:
Warning - may or may not be a joke
Or is it just me?
Anybody that read closely saw it, as did I.

Its true? Minecraft demo for Xbox? With multiplayer?

Compare what Notch did for the "Mars Effect" logo to "Mass Effect":
You don't see the similarity?
