Some time ago, we talked about how Minecraft would not see release on the Playstation Vita; it would seem that Mojang has an exclusive deal with Microsoft for release on their platforms. Generally, an exclusive deal with a producer means that a given game can only be released on their licensed consoles - when (or if) the exclusivity of Minecraft may expand to other platforms is, at the moment, unknown.
We recently had a chance to look at some of the upcoming features of the XBLA release, such as customizable textures and skins, a rather innovative approach to multiplayer support, and the future of modding. What will the future hold for the console port? While the PC version is miles ahead of it's console sibling, it very well may be the standard by which the sandbox port is measured.
_______
Besides, does it really matter which console it is exclusive to? It's going to be an exclusive either way.
the whole top half of this message is great, but are you kidding me with the last bit? not trying to be rude but people do have the same ideas, i dont even remember hearing anything about minecraft until after xbox had released the avatars. im sure they didn't mimic minecraft over that one
*To all those "Nice" PS3 or whatever the hell it's called now people this is not directed towards you, just the dicky people who get all Butt Hurt when I say Xbox is cool.*
*Pat on the back*
In a few words, you've just described my exact feelings.
**God I love flame wars. It's funny cuz I have a PS2, and an older generation of Xbox 360.... so I don't really care for the new one, or the PS3... **
That's why it's on a thing called a computer. Google it. On your computer.
dood omg they shud port it to wii!! *sarcastic face*
I second that motion. jk
Wait who knows this? i believe that would be Playstation Ragers... since half the time when people tell someone why PS3 > Xbox360, i hear them say "Playstation has better exclusives" and actually, Playstation also has MORE exclusives.... UNLESS you want to be all technical and directly say MICROSOFT does, in which case its ridiculous, seeing as 99% of them exclusives are on PC.
Also @ElementalChaos, youre too late.
Now, whats going to turn ALOT of people off of this version is the fact that ....their friends wont be able to play with them as in my case. They are cutting off an entire platform's memberbase from minecraft.....and In my opinion thats not what minecraft is about. Its about being creative any way you can....with some survival mixed in. NOw its....BE creative as long as you have an Xbox 360 or a Well spec computer.
Just my two cents. I will buy the 360 version non the less but I would have also bought a ps3 version as well if it were to come out. Just so I can experience it with my friends who have a ps3
However you cant fault Microsoft or Mojang...business is business and money is money.
That's true, but the PS3 has no games.
Mojang gets letter from microsoft
"If you make it exclusive, you can put minecraft on 360, and we pay you to do so"
"If you dont make it exclusive, u dont get money or mc on 360"
So why get angry? also 360 is known for having a better arcade, if u want arcade games, u likely have a 360 anyway.
Then, they go and sign an exclusive deal with Microsoft, one of the very unstoppable giants they're trying to fight against and be different from? Sounds like selling out to me. You'd think Minecraft would release across all major consoles, or not release at all.
ps3 good exclusives, killzone, heavy rain, uncharted
360 good exclusives, halo, gears of war, countless arcade games (and some of them are dam good) and, (i believe its crap but many love it) the fable series, mass effect series (is also on pc, but this is a console battle, and pc isent involved), forza motorsport 3
360 has great exlusives, ps3 has great exclusives, 360 has more, ps3 has equal great exclusives.
So would u rather, good + 50, or just good?
so 360 is better for exclusives.
At the very least, if the consoles cannot connect to servers via IP hosted on PCs then its going to cut the PC player base by 50%.
Both are lose / lose.
