Need help using a snapshot? Badprenup has you covered!
1. Download the new snapshot minecraft.jar
2. Navigate to your .minecraft folder (On windows, you can find it by searching for %appdata%)
3. Put the new jar file in the bin folder (OPTIONAL: Back up your old jar file).
4. Open Minecraft via the launcher, how you normally would.
Let us know what you find! Here's a screenshot Jon provided of the new mob, the Iron Golem:
Now we just need sideways stairs, and I can recreate that M.C. Escher painting (aka the end of Labyrinth) in Minecraft!
squidward bouncer.
I think this is a great change. I hated that snow golems left a snow trail everywhere. Only leaving them in the cold, shady areas makes more sense.
I'm not a fan of the new Iron Golem. I really like the idea, and am really glad that the villagers are slowly being made better and better (I long for the day that they will trade goods and give you quests), but I really hate the look of the iron golems. The villagers already looked ridiculous with their giant noses. Now we have a mob that not only has the same nose but also is three blocks wide to boot. It just looks odd. And the skin is a letdown too. If it's an iron golem, why is it covered in vines? I'm just not feelin' it and can guarantee that it's the first thing that gets reskinned when 1.2 releases.
o.o
(The zombie on the far right XD)
Is there anyway to delete everything in the world "outside" my placed blocks, so the regenerated parts of the world get caves?
Erm.... Why do we keep forgetting about sandstone stairs? Can we have some sandstone stairs and upside down sandstone stairs? Other than that, I'm not displeased.
Our server is basically carefully assigning players to protect NPC villages, with the suspicion that they will one day become useful (the villagers, not the players...). As a result, lots of walls and castles are going up... but... it's lonely out there on guard duty. Perhaps the Iron Golem should be something craftable by the player instead of the villagers? Perhaps it should have data connected to it so that a protection radius can be set (like the switches on the relays)? Perhaps it should look more like a giant metallic Jeb or Notch, and less like a troll? Just a thought.
And bitching about will only make it better, yea.
I'm really happy with the snapshots, so I'm also happy to have those who are unhappy fail to influence the outcome. :smile.gif:
Either way, with lighting getting all these changes and overhauls, I can only hope coloured light sources and Official Dynamic Light is on the way!
Personally, I think it works for the golems (though I would have liked to see pigmen villagers). As for the size, this is a blessing to me. Make a golem in a mine behind me, and it will block the path for anything trying to get to me.
1. THIS IS AWESOME!
2. If it's made of iron, shouldn't it look more white/gray instead of beige/skin-colored?
3. This proves that the villagers are relatives of Squidward. That golem had seaweed on it!
WE'VE HAD THIS BEFORE IN AN OLD, OLD SNAPSHOT. THIS ISN'T NEW. THEY'RE DEBUG CAMERA CONTROLS.
If you want to fix it, hit the matching camera buttons simultaneously.
M+N resets the camera rotation, Y+H fixes your zoom.
Honestly, a little google goes a long way; or perhaps some OTHER vets can point these obvious things out before I have to? Seriously. :T
