Have you ever built something so absolutely amazing that you wanted to keep it forever? Imagined a structure in Minecraft, and longed to see it brought into the real world?

Well, now's your chance.

Eric Haines from Autodesk (the makers of 3D rendering software, no less) has just released his Mineways program to the world. Mineways allows you to select various blocks from within the game, trim them up, and send them to 3D printing service, Shapeways.

The process is extremely simple, and after a quick turn around, you can have any Minecraft scene, object, or mob rendered into a real life object of your very own.

So during a conversation with two of my friends, the subject of 3D printing comes up. Basically the younger one takes a tech class and he gets to play around with 3D printers. I suggested he play Minecraft since he likes building stuff, and the older one promptly swept my suggestion off the table by saying "No. Make something in Real Life instead." I'd like to see the look on his face when I come back with this.

Hey no .app I want to be able to use this on my mac because its way faster than my windows (I get 1 - 100 fps on my minecraft on my pc).

Man that's pricy. And my Spider stone citadel didn't even have the bottom 5-10 layers...

My skywhale is over water btw. If I did this I would have to seriously edit some things. Really fun to try out though thanks.
