Jeb has confirmed this week's tester jar, 11w48a! Remember, this will not patch on its own, so if you'd like to help out by testing it, grab the file here, and copy the new .jar file over your existing one. Be sure to report any bugs you may find on the Minecraft Wiki here.
What's New - Find Out Here
We have discovered the following in this week's tester (expect this list to update frequently):
New Features:
- Taiga biomes return
- Apples can randomly drop from trees
- Farmland trampling mechanics have been altered
- "Void fog" gone at bedrock level in Creative mode
Bugs:
- Breaking wheat can "trample" between 2 and 5 adjacent farmland blocks, this is being addressed
- Placing a block next to double-doors (wooden) can cause them to force open
- Sugar cane can be placed underwater
Also, a question. It says they only drop from "Normal trees, not oaks or birches. I was under the impression that there were 3 kinds of trees: Oak (which everyone thinks of as 'normal'), birch, and pine (or evergreen). So are there 4 trees now? Was it a typo? Am I just plain wrong?
And the ability to place sugar cane underwater existed in 1.7 already. I made my underwater bases with them.
=/ They're on vacation at the moment from Minecon. But that'll end soon probably.
And they didn't have any form of idea as to what to add, and guess what?
THESE ARE BUG FIX AND TWEAK PATCHES.
You aren't going to find blatant new features in a bug patch. It's awkward for even the apples to be there since that's a new thing.
And it's something people have been wanting for a good year AND WE FINALLY GOT IT.
Stop. Just stop. The game is done now, they are just adding more things. Like apples. Now we don't need a mod for it.
Like, when with Minecraft ACTUALLY be updated and not pre-released into oblivion?
Seriously, I don't want to have to go through 10 versions of the same "pre-post-release" patch just to get the game from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1
Make farming and food like Xie's Farming and Nature overhaul. Seems better and would allow plantations of food type trees.
If you don't like it, don't download the Pre-release.
