Simon Lane (better known to Yogscast fans as Honeydew) has issued a response to recent statements regarding Yogscasts' alleged behavior at Minecon. They seemed somewhat confused and dismayed at statements regarding their behavior, stating that they were "surprised and confused about where this stuff has come from - especially since the only time we spoke to Notch was at the interview." Further comments by Simon emphasized happiness that they were able to connect to fans directly, and that the Yogscast crew were disappointed that they couldn't sign and meet every fan present.
Both sides of the dispute seem to point only to two tired parties having a minor misunderstanding, which is already clearing up. You can view the entire statement by Yogscastright here!
UPDATE: Notch has responded to the Yogscast's recent statement, noting that the situation is likely a "stress-related misunderstanding." He has apologized for his earlier comments, and seems as eager as the Yogscast crew to put the misunderstanding behind him.
"Yogscast did something to set him off, even if they are too proud to admit it."
I wouldn't call it proud - I'd call it pompous. Something endemic in the UK. I also love the Yogtard's not having an ounce of any ability to question anything fed to them. Babies don't question anything either, and that pretty much defines their audience by the looks of it. But if you're looking for some sweet pedobear options, feel free to stay subscribed. Lots to choose from there.
dude why are you shitting on your keyboard?i mean
you are using generalizations to define a group and you want ppl to understand?Please..., you are unsubscribing yogscast because of their audience?thats like not eating bacon because of a fat kid wtf dude
i can understand where notch is coming from. think about it, if he heres rumors saying that the yogscast made minecraft popular a game that he invented himself, i would be pretty steamed too. the yogscast just created a wave of youtubers thinking that they have a shot at being like the yogscast and making popular youtube videos. i respect both parties but perhaps Deadmau5 had them eargasm too much the previous night.
Really >.< ?.. Do you realize how much it cost the Yogscast to go to Minecon ?
All they did was ask for a little support, and got exactly that, a LITTLE support. 2 Hotel rooms and a small board room is nothing compared to the flight tickets, the other hotel rooms and etc.
Mojang earned alot more from having the Yogscast there, compared to what they spent on them.
Then the childish tweets Notch tweeted while he was drunk based on hearsays ?
Do you realize how much that cost the Yogscast ?
They lost tons of subscribers, got alot of hate, their site got ddosed, etc.
Not to mention that Notch acted like a **** in the interview with the Yogscast aswell.
not really, he was just trolling them during the interview.next time you watch shadow of israfail, try not to get a boner and post some idiotic comments.
Wow. There is no pleasing half of you. Some of you are absurdly keeping this nothing something.
Lets try to take some perspective here. From Notch's side it is his first time having his company run a convention. how much do you know about making a convention happen off the top of your head? I am sure plenty of things slip your mind. Now you here from some of your wonder volunteer staff about one of your guests being pricks. Are you going to take them at their word?
Now from the other side, you make your living off of videos of playing the game celebrated at said con, get invited but not paid to go, nor were all expenses covered. The people who invited you seem fine with what you normally do on your show, so you don't feel the need to censor.
Now I will admit Notch probably should not have posted about it, he has apologized for this. But when flustered over learning how to hold an event with thousands of people, it can really rub you the wrong way when someone claims you can't run your own company, even if that is just hearsay.
Sometimes explanations can be reasonable. They are both either over it or discussing it privately by now. Please stop being dicks, because no matter who you side with you are making it worse for THEM by this point. No one likes a fanboy, and many will decide to hold an unneeded grudge against those you want to continue to thrive.
Just be as the sponge and soak things up for a little.
@Captain Pighard: That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. There's someone in the mix who deliberately caused a conflict, apparently with lies and/or deception (though perhaps mere wrongheadedness); whereas the people in conflict weren't actually talking to one another. That's a recipe for trouble, and it's one that's usually cooked up deliberately BY someone. Whoever that third party was, it should be figured out and he/she should be condemned to irrelevance.
@all the people quoting Yogscast's "We didn't get paid" and saying they're demanding payment/whining about lack of payment (whether you're on the side who thinks they should or shouldn't have gotten paid): You're missing one little thing: They said "we didn't get paid and we didn't demand payment. Notch claimed they 'demanded he pay them', they're just refuting that, saying they didn't.
To all the people saying the Yogscast were unreasonable in asking for financial help and expecting the autograph area to be set up beforehand...
In every convention I have ever even heard of, if you invite someone to do panels/autographs/etc as a Guest of Honor, you treat them like a Guest of Honor. In other words, you pay for their hotel rooms at the least and possibly help with the airfare if they're traveling from halfway across the planet, and you make sure the areas they're working in are set up beforehand, so that they can do what you brought them there to do: provide entertainment and make your convention look good. You hire grunts to do the gruntwork, not the GoH's. And you certainly do NOT sell the rights to THEIR intellectual property ahead of time without their permission, and you do NOT go posting libel on Twitter even if you're drunk.
But it should come as no surprise that Notch went and jumped in headfirst without having any idea, planning, or structure as to what he's doing, in regards to running a convention. That's kinda his modus operandi for everything, isn't it? Jump/tweet/speak first, think later? I've seen amateurs with more professionalism than him.

Wow, so reasonable, it is like exactly what yogscast said... if they wanted to be dicks. Seriously all your arguments go over what they said only you decide to add in insults. Is it unreasonable no. Is it necessarily the first thing on your mind when running a convention for the first time? No. Was it really necessary to post about it causing more trouble for both Notch and the yogs? NOOOOOOOOO!!!
Notch already apologize for the whole thing (if you dont follow him in twitter he said "im sorry yogcast for being a ****" and some others but that is the most clear and direct apologize), it was probably a very stressful convention, since is the first one everything had to be clockwork precise, and it was probably not.
Since yogcast is one of the biggest if not the biggest influence of minecraft at minecon, is to assume that if something was slightly wrong on the yogcast end (not saying yogcast fault but any little complain, like they dont have tables to sign stuff for example) and wasnt directly related to notch the gossip has gone all over proportion and notch is a very strict guy (you can tell because he has sell millions of copies, he has to be) so he probably was tired and upset on how the yogcast can be such a "spoiled group" and twitted to soon, even though he said in his last hate tweet "i do like the work they do", all of the community or at least most of it thought it was possible that they behave horribly.
After the statement of the yogcast everything went clear and probably notch with a lot of rest and time realize his mistake apologize, remember people, tweeting is way to easy and you can make mistakes in seconds (like calling and ex drunk).
Well that was my point of view i think everything had a happy ending and besides some IGN interview and stuff that i find rude (specifically notch selling the rights to ign instead of yogcast) , we can wait to the next minecon hopping is going to be a lot better, and with less mistakes and fights :D, if they CAN leave it behind idk why the community cant , feel free to post this anywhere if you find it interesting and want people to know, (idk how to make a reddit thread :P) , happy mining people

kettle calling the pot black me thinks.
Notch sounds like a politician, he's saying sorry but it doesn't sound like he means it.
What I think is either Notch got hacked by some sad virgin in his or her basement bored (like any other 5 year old) or it was Notch that was trolling or was tired cause come on talking on a microphone for 2 days straight signing non stop and announcing it has got to be tiring now for Yogscast I HIGHLY DOUBT they did drop this so called "F-bomb" on a kid they wouldn't be were they are now without all there fans I think Notch over reacted and just tweeted for no apparent reason because he was happy with the interview and then just all caps rage on twitter so I have no idea who's side i'm on I think just overreacted on this one and if he did do this for no reason then he lost some MAJOR RESPECT POINTS
Wow I told you so. It was a misunderstanding and it was not there fault. But you were so quick to judge the yogscast and condemn them for things that had no proof. To those who stood by the yogscast I salute you.

The Bethesda thing? No, couldn't be!
And he did the right thing, in my opinion; trying to avoid a civil war in the minecraft forums.
They went up about 15k in the last 48 hours.
