1.9 Updates: Potion Updates
"In the prerelease, there are 161 brewable unique potions. Unless we change it, there will be 2,653 with all ingredients added."
While the code for potions is already somewhat in place, there do not appear to be any plans to make them available until the 1.10 release. We do not know all 2,653 possible future combinations; however, we have compiled a brief list of some known potions and their effects. Take a look!
Way too many potions.
I feel like I want to go onto an SMP server, become the potions master there, and "accidentally" give someone a potion that kills them instantly.
If only there was a way to launch them at mobs. Battle potions!
And talking about potions they are not going to be released until 1.10 from what I have read on the wiki.
I can't wait to try the Hardcore mode, it's going to be awesome. And all the new monsters, can't wait!

Dont grief please and we just started a new map tell an admin you saw this if they asked were you found server.
But I didn't expect what it is at the moment.
Sure, it's "less tedious" insofar as checking potion effects is fast and easy, but making potions is infuriatingly BORING now. Oh no, I said it. Boring.
99% of potions effects I pre-empted. Mind you, that's a bit of a hyperbole. I missed two of the few potions currently available.
Ok, that's cool. I figured some stuff out, I guess?
But no dual effects of them, and there are pretty much no combinations of ingredients I didn't try. Within two and a half hours ONLY, I have a pretty accurate compendium of all the potions I found, after trying every combination I could on every potion I found. And I don't think I missed many - and if I did, it was because it became too tedious in its own way; like solving algebra problems over and over with one number different each time.
When Jeb had mentioned the removal of all duplicate potions & potions that couldn't be made in more than 6 steps [I think that was it?] I hadn't expected the longest one I've found to be all of 4 steps. and it's an Instant damage II potion. Wow, how fun. How absolutely interesting and riveting. I simply cannot believe how revolutionary THAT is. /sarcasm
I personally think it's oversimplified now and with that, has become boring.
Oh yeah. I'm saying that again, encase someone missed it: It's become boring.
Honestly, No amount of new ingredients are going to make this any better, unless one of them does some of the crazy stuff that Netherwart USED to do, maybe a bit toned down so it can be predicted somewhat.
But as it stands, I think it needs "Secondary ingredient" interactions, to start with - I don't see that over-complicating things, if it's been done nicely. But it's primary school 1+1 = 2 logic that's driving the potion system now! That's not fun, it's basic, it's dry, and it's disappointed me a hell of a lot.
Not to mention, pretty much every potion can be made in THREE steps. Yeah. And that's including putting Netherwart into the potion to get the "Base" you need for EVERYTHING [oh, right. Barring potions of weakness. Real useful.]. Universal reagents are nice, but that's just annoying. At least it's easy to obtain en masse, I suppose.
I don't really mind the loss of effect level III from the currently available system's ingredients, though.
In my opinion, the perks of the new system do NOT outweigh the downfalls. Not by any stretch of the imagination.
Comment/rant/thing over.
feel free to tear this post apart or point out any things I might've missed.
This was already answered. it's more like "Version 1, Patch 10" not "Version 2, patch 0".
Program versions are different to the decimal system, after all there are some programs with versions like "1.12.6.1".
Jeez. Stop trying to be a smartass without knowing the facts. =D
