What do you guys think about upgrading my server with this pre-release? I know 1.8 had a really buggy pre-release so I didn't do it till the update came out. As far as this, since it isn't a MASSIVE change, I figured any bugs could be easily fixed by the official 1.9 around the corner. Any suggestions?
Stupid, useless Endermen. You know, I could see it, if the Endermen targeted only worked blocks, and thus were constantly trying to tear down what you were building. I could see it if they were a particularly nasty and rare mob with teleportation capabilities. I could see it if you could use enough Ender pearls to make an overland travel portal. The problem is that Endermen are sissies who ride the short bus to school, seldom teleport effectively, have a worthless drop, and spend their time taking chunks of wood out of trees, pieces out of giant mushrooms, etc., and being in all other ways completely harmless to the even poorly protected player. Their current inception is a complete waste of time, they are easier than sheep to mow down, poorly thought out and poorly executed. Do something interesting with them, or get rid of them. They are screwing up the maps.
1.notch isnt the only one working on it.
2.programming games isnt easy.
3.1.9 was originally supposed to be a part of 1.8,but since everyone couldnt calm the **** down,he released first part of 1.8 without the rest---in short, unfinished update is finished.
For point 3, it probably seems like it, but honestly I doubt very much the community actually influenced it. *If* anything they probably thought it would be a good idea to split it apart and get feedback on individual aspect of the update in order to correct any issues overtime, instead of releasing a giant update that will have an extraordinary amount of bugs and issues do to the sheer size of it.
There really is a lot of stuff in 1.8 in 1.9, and who knows what leftovers will be in 1.10.
1.8 and 1.10 are version numbers, not decimal numbers. The period is merely a separator. Current MC version is 1.8.1 and that is not a real number. Therefor, 1.1 and 1.10 are completely different.
I'm kinda disappointed if this is all hes adding. The Exp and Enderman pearls, are still useless, still no dragons, Ghast tears do nothing, gold nuggets aren't helpful considering gold is still useless, the new rods are useless, the magma cube doesn't drop items, you cant interact with the villages, the new seeds take Ages to grow and are to rare. The only kinda cool think is snow golems and considering how rare pumpkins are not worth it. So I'm not going to bother.
i'm getting 1 fps even with the settings as low as they can go! I've got an idea for people that are still 1.8. Set up a bunch of snow golems and get monsters around you then when you go to 1.9 you've got a huge army of snow golems appear and they shoot all the monsters!!!

That is for debugging. SMP has orb lag issues upon death, getting XP by jumping allowed them to test it.

So 1.10 is higher than 1.8 :wink.gif:
