Jeb has released updates for the playable 1.8 beta, and they are now available! Included are a massive number of bug fixes, tweaks and modifications - get your updates below!
So we are betatesting the beta update? This is a fail. Is Jeb afraid that it wont work if it goes live? They could easily put out a bug patch! Look at beta 1.6.6! It went through 6 whole versions! I would rather them do that then have to download a new minecraft everytime I want to play 1.8. :sleep.gif: I bet it could have been released a long time ago. This update isn't even as awesome as they have been saying it would be. seems like alot of wasted time for nothing.
Emphasis mine, you DON'T have to re-download every time you want to play 1.8.
Download the current version ---> Play it until release.

Java exception error ... over and over and over. regardless of what i do or how i install it. Ah well i'll stick with 1.7.3 til that gets sorted. And before anyone asks yes im running the latest sun java.
Awesome! I don't know if i'm putting this in the right place because i'm not a huge forums guy, but i think vines should work like cactus and reeds(sugar canes, bamboo... whatever you want to call them). So that if you break the highest one with shears you get all the ones below it instead of them disappearing.
**You can no longer keep the right click down to place blocs you need to press it over and over... i think that should be change back to the way it was.
**Rain bugs, sometimes rains inside your house or tunnel or cave or wtv, but if you break the blocks above you (where the rain is coming) the rain will stop in that block.
**For when the torches give light when you are holding them? I think is such a basic thing but never added. Please think about that.
**TOO easy to get food... it should be reduce the possibilities of a cow and pig giving meat.
Thanks All.
It's easy to get food for a reason, the hunger bar. The more you sprint and walk the faster it will be depleted. Especially if you're exploring, and walking around at night when you're running away or fighting mobs. If it was to hard to get food then you would be whining after saying "Oh it's to hard to get food, I'm always dying from hunger."
**Note** The game would not be realistic if you killed a full grown pig and cow, with no meat being dropped. Plus there will be times when no animals spawn, so food is important.
Doesn't it seem a bit redundant to do a pre-release for a game in beta? Then update that pre-release?
They did that for a reason, it's because this update is so huge, and there's so many changes along with it. If the pre-release goes good for us then they will release 1.8 as soon as possible. Their doing what they wanna do, I'm afraid you're going to have to deal with it.

Beta is the testing of the game for stability. I know have to deal with it, but it simply seems unnecessary.

I know what you mean, a beta within a beta seems kind of awkward but it doesn't matter at this point. What really matters is the game's actual release date. Minecraft is going to be very stable when it's released and that's more then 2 months away, so they can take their time with this.
If you shift-click items into a full chest the game goes to the "Saving chunks" screen, except it is greyed out, much like the item dup glitch when opening a chest and going into the nether, except this one black screens after a few seconds.

That's against the law of physics. Vines work totally different from canes. Vines stick to each other just like in real life. Taking one down from any spot won't affect the other ones. Jeb and Notch do not read every single post on the forum to look for new changes. Even if they did read every post on the forum how could you guarantee they would even consider your idea out of maybe a hundred thousand.

No. Simply replace your entire JAR file with the 1.8 one. You don't need to alter the JAR file at all.
Ah well soon enough im sure it'll play for me.

Simply posting "Its not working" is not a viable way to get assistance.
What are you doing?
What is it doing? ("Not working" isn't a proper response)
Do you get any errors?

Are you placing the JAR file in the proper folder?
