Jens and Notch have just announced that the 1.8 pre-release .jar is available for public testing. It is important to remember that this is NOT The final release of 1.8, and is still extremely buggy. If you find any bugs, or need support, please join the #minecraft channel on irc.esper.net using your favorite IRC client!

NOTICE: This version will only work if you've paid for Minecraft, all the more reason to step up!

I have a question, for anyone who may be able to answer it. I was going through it to find the 'terrain.png' files (to update my texture pack to be ready for 1.8), but it doesn't seem to exist in this version. Is it just that it is leaked and whoever leaked it didn't put that in? Or is it stored in a different folder in 1.8? If anyone finds it, please let me know.

(And if you do find it, call me an idiot, because I am clearly blind.)

Guys, just go into your .minecraft, then go to bin, then, delete the current "minecraft" file. After, drag the new minecraft in the spot of old minecraft. (First just download this to your desktop, then you can drag it)

Bug whenever you are crafting something and you close without withdrawing makes infinite stacks. :sad.gif:

Would I have to make a new world between this pre-release and the real release of 1.8? I want to know if I can start building epic stuff now, or if I should wait until the real release.

i experienced a lot of crashes playing the game. especially when i die. also when i try to sleep doesnt matter if i am in a room or not mobs still spawn and i cant sleep one night! I:
