Posted Sep 3, 20111. That thing behind the cacti just right of the centre of the picture is just a distorted texture of the chest.
2. Cacti have always been randomly generated from heights of 1-4 blocks tall.
3. He is not holding a sand block in his left hand, it's definitely NOT at all a sand slab, pressure plate nor is it quicksand; It's just a block of sand one higher than the foreground and close to the player. The texture is not different at all. It's the same texture with bigger pixels basically portraying that it is right infront of the player and at a higher level. Another reason is also because the textures are more than 16 pixels wide meaning it's at least 2 blocks adjacently placed next to each other. Also if you have realised he is in F1 mode; When you press F1 it removes the UI/HUD which also removes the block/tool you have equipped, therefore he is not wielding a sand block in his left hand.
4. Moving onto the chest. It is only 15 pixels in depth, 15 in width, and is one less pixel on either side from what I have viewed so far from the picture.
Other things that can not be the second hidden update in the image include:
-Horizon - Curve and colour was revealed at PAX.
-Sun - The outside edge has always been there.
-The Clouds - They've always been 3D to the idiot who said that's the hidden update and also the colour from the sunset onto the clouds was already seen at PAX.
-The Lighting - This was already confirmed a month or two ago, I'm pretty sure it was before 1.7 came out. This was also seen at PAX.
-Massive Biomes - This was also revealed a while back and also seen at PAX.
-Ocean - That ocean in the horizon may not be an ocean, and if it is it has already been seen at PAX.
The only things I have caught with my eye closely is just right of the sun it appears to be a cactus-coloured block with a chunk cut out of the left side of it, and also to the right among the cacti with just the tips sticking out above the sand dune, there is an orange/yellow tip sticking out.
I'm not sure if anyone has discovered anything more than I have already but this is what I have seen from the picture given.
