UPDATE NOTE
There seems to be some (understandable) confusion in regards to where the lawsuit is coming from. To clarify, "Bethesda Softworks" (publisher and developer of game titles) and "Bethesda Game Studios" (Creators of games like Oblivion, Skyrim etc.) are not the same entity. BGS is an in-house game-making team led by Todd Howard which is one part of Bethesda Softworks, and has no direct connection to the lawsuit in progress by Bethesda Softworks. Unless further specified by the acronym "BGS", any references to Bethesda in the following article assume "Bethesda Softworks". Sorry about the confusion!

Mojang has been in development of another project (which we went over in our last installment), which bears the working name "Scrolls". Bethesda has expressed concern that players could mix up this new game with their own "Elder Scrolls" series, although the two seem to share no noticeable similarities beyond the word "scrolls".
Notch said that their office received a 15-page cease-and-desist letter, claiming that Mojang would be sued for rights to the word, along with formal requests for legal fees. He went on to say that they are attempting to establish talks with Bethesda regarding the word, to find an amicable solution for both parties. At the time of this writing, there was no available response from Bethesda.
We will continue to update this article as information becomes available.

Look, there is nothing "adult" about what Bethesda (Or Zenimax for you pickier people) is doing here. There's nothing more cheap and stupid than suing another game company just to draw in publicity.
You know nothing of marketing tricks, do you? It's obvious by how many times anyone in the comments or the post has name-dropped the elder scrolls games, including me. Even if it is used in a negative manner, they're still introducing people to the seriesor just drawing attention. In the market the only bad attention is no attention, so everyone tries to hype up their game as much as possible. This whole scandal is just a ploy to draw attention to the new upcoming Skyrim. One obvious clue is that Skyrim's release date is right around the corner.
Once again calling us childeren and them "adults" and having them "sort this out as adults" could not be farther from the truth. This is more or less simply stupid of Bethesda, a company I once loved, and it's stupid of those supporting it.
people saying that they cant own a word guess what its something called copyrighting. it depends how they copyrighted it ( the whole phrase (the elder scrolls) or word by word). so basically they kind of do. and Why did Notch have to post this as soon as he got it? now you got most of the mincraft community blaming Bethesda not there legal team. and Notch is so nice he really likes Bethesda but the LAWERS screwed it up
Runescape for the clue scrolls,
and World of Warcraft,
and J.K. Rowling and J. R. R. Tolkien,
and ALL Medevil RPGs,
and ALL RPGs,
and ALL Fictional books with Magic,
and ALL Fictional Television shows with elves and other forms of magic,
and ALL of Medevil Europe, which is almost all the Western counties,
and ALL of Ancient Greek,
and the actual creators of the scroll, as far as I care, The Ancient Egyptions and Mesopotamians.
So far all of these and more have and will always have scrolls.
Bethesda is scared at how fast Minecraft is growing, and if more people are playing Minecraft than Skyrim that would be considered bad business for them.
Also Gratz Notch on 3 million copies sold. Keep rackin them up.
so basically they can get lost or loose the trial and loose some money for sewing Us. It makes no sense what they are doing. i would gladly go to court if i would get sued for such insignificant thing. I would say to those guys you sued us now there is no turning back KTB.
At least we can talk about it here and we have been told what is going on. Bethesda is locking any thread on the matter on their site.
Mojang: but the games aren't even related other than the title D:
Bethesda: problem? you mad? >:3
!!!Alert!!! we have now established a new level of trolling d*****ness, have a nice day
But I say "bring it". If they want to lose a crapload of cash, fine by me. If they're willing to sue over something that insignificant they don't deserve the money.
