UPDATE NOTE
There seems to be some (understandable) confusion in regards to where the lawsuit is coming from. To clarify, "Bethesda Softworks" (publisher and developer of game titles) and "Bethesda Game Studios" (Creators of games like Oblivion, Skyrim etc.) are not the same entity. BGS is an in-house game-making team led by Todd Howard which is one part of Bethesda Softworks, and has no direct connection to the lawsuit in progress by Bethesda Softworks. Unless further specified by the acronym "BGS", any references to Bethesda in the following article assume "Bethesda Softworks". Sorry about the confusion!

Mojang has been in development of another project (which we went over in our last installment), which bears the working name "Scrolls". Bethesda has expressed concern that players could mix up this new game with their own "Elder Scrolls" series, although the two seem to share no noticeable similarities beyond the word "scrolls".
Notch said that their office received a 15-page cease-and-desist letter, claiming that Mojang would be sued for rights to the word, along with formal requests for legal fees. He went on to say that they are attempting to establish talks with Bethesda regarding the word, to find an amicable solution for both parties. At the time of this writing, there was no available response from Bethesda.
We will continue to update this article as information becomes available.

Try Egypt. ;3
Also, Minecraft is titled properly. What do you do in it? You mine things and you craft things. The two main things you do is MINE and CRAFT. Minecraft.
This guy is absolutely correct!
Educate yourselves before posting lol... Most of you sound like little kiddies trying to get worked up about something you don't understand.

Elder scrolls has been trademarked for a long time now...do they have the right to sue mojang over the name if they want? yes, that's the law and its not going to change just because you think notch is a god
Just change it to Scroll, everything will be in the right. ;3
Stop blaming Bethesda and the games they make. It isn't the dev's call its the legal team's call.
Most of you are under the age of 16 and trust me, you have no idea what is going on here or why Bethesda is doing this. So hop off of the minecraft bandwagon, step back, and look at the situation. Bethesda is only doing what they think is "best" for them.
True, but wouldn't Bethesda have to trademarke every single word in "The Elder Scrolls" individually for it to be legitimate?
Its one godamn word!!!
Its like me getting sued by Notch cuz I established a mine!!!
Well said. Now stop mocking them by saying that you'll say the word over and over again, etc., because that's not the point.
But it's nice to see how zealously people are defending Mojang. This has my full approval.
(Except for "F U BETHESDA U NOT LEIK NOTCH!!!". I doubt that could ever convince Bethesda otherwise or shame them.)
@Any company that sues over a word: You FAIL!
It's sad that companies will sue over use of certain words, especially if they are currently used for a project name, as this may only be a working name. I am a big fan of the Elder Scrolls (DOH!) series. The word Scrolls (crap!) has been used for thousands of years before the first transistor was invented. Its even funnier that in most of the Elder
Scrolls (uh oh!) games there is a hardly enough reference to scrolls (whoops!) themselves.
Now does that mean that our Elder Scrolls (dangit!) company will be going after any other use of the word Scrolls (GASP!)? Most likely not. They are defending their use of the word Scrolls (oh come on!) as it references "their" game. Oh wait! They were not the first to use the word Scrolls (oh to hell with it) first in a game!
You disappoint me more
BethesdaZeniMax. Meh.*EDIT* Corrected the company in questions.
