UPDATE NOTE
There seems to be some (understandable) confusion in regards to where the lawsuit is coming from. To clarify, "Bethesda Softworks" (publisher and developer of game titles) and "Bethesda Game Studios" (Creators of games like Oblivion, Skyrim etc.) are not the same entity. BGS is an in-house game-making team led by Todd Howard which is one part of Bethesda Softworks, and has no direct connection to the lawsuit in progress by Bethesda Softworks. Unless further specified by the acronym "BGS", any references to Bethesda in the following article assume "Bethesda Softworks". Sorry about the confusion!

Mojang has been in development of another project (which we went over in our last installment), which bears the working name "Scrolls". Bethesda has expressed concern that players could mix up this new game with their own "Elder Scrolls" series, although the two seem to share no noticeable similarities beyond the word "scrolls".
Notch said that their office received a 15-page cease-and-desist letter, claiming that Mojang would be sued for rights to the word, along with formal requests for legal fees. He went on to say that they are attempting to establish talks with Bethesda regarding the word, to find an amicable solution for both parties. At the time of this writing, there was no available response from Bethesda.
We will continue to update this article as information becomes available.

Bethesda makes great games. Award-winning games. Like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Brink, and more.
you do realize that Mincecraft is a piece of **** when compered to Bethesda´s games which are among the best in the business
Fallout kept my attention for approximately 10 minutes and the Elder Scrolls series is the most boring **** to be inside my XBox360. I would list all it's flaws but I simply don't have that much time on my hands.
Minecraft has more playtime then most of their games combined, and it's not even officially released yet. Not once have I been bored or out of things to do in minecraft.
Your individual opinion is your own but the numbers say it all. Bethesda makes popular and loved games. Perhaps some people feel the opposite of you, they don't get enough of say Fallout or Brink but Minecraft grew dull to them.
You sir, are one of the only people I've seen with common sense so far on this forum. You and Tampashrew. The numbers are the facts in this case.
I completely agree, its a huge matter of opinion on something like this. But when it comes to things like numbers and sales, Zenimax overall wins by a long shot.
SUE ME BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY THE **** DO U PLAY MINECRAFT!
I used to love them so much but then they started publishing crap games and then this stupid crap.
A PRIVATE COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO OWN A WORD THAT THEY DIDN'T MAKE A GAME NAMED AFTER.
Their game was ELDER SCROLLS, not SCROLLS, JEEZUS! I DIDN'T EVEN THINK OF THE ELDER SCROLLS (one of my favorite video game series) WHEN I HEARD ABOUT SCROLLS! THEY ARE NOT RELATED!!!!
Jeez Bethesda you make me mad.
In a class project, my class and I were put into teams to make an ad for an imaginary shoe, with posters, radio commercials, slogan, and all that stuff.
It turns out, two teams had a really similar slogan, "Bolt to it" and "Leap to it."
There was a class argument. :dry.gif:
It was really ticking me off when they were just arguing that another team "stole" their slogan, but seriously, couldn't they just go with it? :angry.gif:
Seriously, either Mojang or Bethesda could just change their projects' name, but why? It's just a name!
Don't be stupid. if you even had a thought of what was going on you would know that they aren't even suing. It's a ****ing cease and desist. Either way, they couldn't sue you for saying the word, by any chance do you even have a ****ing clue to what a copyright is? Here's a link to the definition bro, read it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright
Minecraft is a best selling game (even in its unfinished state) and is going to release its full version on November 11. the next installment of the elder scrolls (skyrim) will be released on November 11 too. (i checked). Bethesda might feel a bit threatened about that so when they heard about Mojang developing a title called Scrolls (not a very good name by the way) they may have thought something like:
What if it´s a super success like minecraft.
From there i think they decided to start a legal action to force Mojang into changing the name of the project to protect their income.
And by the way as previously stated you CAN trademark words. (unfortunately)
Why not bother? i dont think a name means much to be honest. Eitherway, its a joke. If you think its either crude or cruel thats just a matter of opinion.
