1.8 Updates: Endermen or Farlanders?

A new image of the new creature - commonly referred to as "Endermen" - was released recently (enhanced here, for light levels). This image is much more up-close-and-personal than the first, giving us a good look at the new creatures. It would seem that wearing a pumpkin prevents the new mob from seeing you, although this is unconfirmed at present.

Additionally, Notch mentioned a possible name-change for the newly minted mob, "Farlander" being suggested and, apparently, already in heavy use.

We have a poll for the creature's name, check it out! Response to the poll was so overwhelming that it actually overflowed what the poll was capable of storing! We have fixed the poll - however, any previous votes will have to be re-cast. We apologize for the inconvenience!

Enderman, because it's close to the appearance (and it references it) of the Slenderman which is why it was named Enderman in the first place.

Farlander wins by a landslide in my eyes.
Endermen was a "copy" of the Slendermen-meme, but Farlanders is unique to minecrafts universe, and the idea that they hail from the far lands appeals greatly to me.

Sounds way cooler too. :tongue.gif:

i think farlander is better for two reasons, 1) because of the distortion the farlands create and personally i think they look like distorted skeletons 2) i have an idea for an adventure map i'm calling life in the far lands and these guys would definitely work to my advantage

Enderman sounds waaay creepier. Farlander sounds much more peaceful.

The majority of us have already come to know it as "Enderman" so I don't really see why it needs a new name.

Enderman has a creeoy feeling in it (And its a fitting reference), but Farlander would have in-game foundations.... Imma just stay here and watch what happens.

I say it should be slendermen still. They fit that name perfectly. They look like a man and they are very skinny.
