A new image of the new creature - commonly referred to as "Endermen" - was released recently (enhanced here, for light levels). This image is much more up-close-and-personal than the first, giving us a good look at the new creatures. It would seem that wearing a pumpkin prevents the new mob from seeing you, although this is unconfirmed at present.
Additionally, Notch mentioned a possible name-change for the newly minted mob, "Farlander" being suggested and, apparently, already in heavy use.
ooh! what if there were villages of each, and the enders/farlanders built theirs out of something different than the human villages! or what if they had a symbiotic relationship, or maybe the enders/farlanders were the human's slaves, building their villages, or maybe the humans would be the enders'/farlanders' slaves, and killing the farlanders would free the humans, and they would give you something good!that was a big idea/string of ideas, so think on it for a bit if you couldn't comprehend it, but if you could, then click the on the right)
It looks like a skeleton thats really glitched out...
I somewhat agree, but Farlander makes more sense. The very edge of the minecraft world is officially called "The Farlands".
No, THIS is the new mob. Notch said so. He also said that they are docile until you look directly at them, and when you do, they freeze and stare at you. The second you look away, they sprint at you, and teleport around. They also move blocks around.
I agree with you. Plus Farlanders just sounds more minecrafty than Endermen.
In a year or two it'll become so regular that Flanders will sound stupid.
I bet "Nether" sounded stupid at first, and remember when people called it the slip or somthing?
Its Notch's game let him call them what he wants.
Because THEY WILL END YOU.
