A new image of the new creature - commonly referred to as "Endermen" - was released recently (enhanced here, for light levels). This image is much more up-close-and-personal than the first, giving us a good look at the new creatures. It would seem that wearing a pumpkin prevents the new mob from seeing you, although this is unconfirmed at present.
Additionally, Notch mentioned a possible name-change for the newly minted mob, "Farlander" being suggested and, apparently, already in heavy use.
Endermen? Really? Sounds ridiculous.
Farlander sounds ominous.
Then again my screen's setting are affected by my video card, but even when color correction is off, I can see the whole image.
More on topic:
I would like to keep Enderman, it was the first name Notch decided on, and if people don't like it it doesn't affect anything (read: past updates).
I'm not sure what makes you think the pumpkin means anything, as one of the first things he stated about these are that they are a passive mob that only becomes hostile when you look straight at the (when the recital passes over them)
No mention of the fact that this is also an image of of an NPC village.(and to the people commenting, there are no friendly NPCs in this screen shot, the character on the left is a zombie, not a friendly unit.)
Endermen - the Farlanders
I say keep the name as Enderman and keep the name Far Lands.
Oh yeah. From the description that Notch posted a couple of weeks ago I always thought that Endermen would be like the "creators" of the Minecraft world. So that if they "created" it they could also "end" it. I like the skin for the Enderman because it looks like bedrock. And most of us know at one time bedrock was called admin rock or something like that... And who creates servers? Admins!
Thanks for reading my post fellow Minecrafters!
It isn't like they live in the Far Lands...
