1.8 Updates: New Mob...Revealed?

Notch revealed a screenshot of one of the new monsters for 1.8!

Seen here is a screenshot of a new monster in the works for 1.8. While Notch didn't specify exactly what it was, it seems fairly apparent that this new arrival in Minecraft isn't especially friendly-looking. What is it? What can it do? We will keep you updated as this information becomes available!

they are holding sand and well look that is a giant mushroom touching water if that sand was missing ealier then the mushroom could not grow thereful the stole the sand and are the NPC vilagers

Enderman.. sounds like slenderman. Maybe its a shadow that attacks you from your own shadow and takes down houses made from dirt and sand?

Lol you can see bark on the lower blocks, notch must have added leaf half blocks. Unless he hasn't made the texture yet, its probably a tree.

If you look at the enhanced version you'll see one is holding sand, maybe they have the ability to build? Or maybe repair? Interesting and so excited!

I think they're taking the blocks to make a village, since Notch said there were going to be NPC villages.

To me they dont look like a mob that could be damaged easy...
much like the ghast, when i first saw it i was like
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT"
But imagin, walking out of your house at night to get important supplies when you stop moving and something turns you around...
only for it to have grabed you...
and to be staring into its eyes o_o
