1.8 Updates: Bosses, Biomes and More
In a recent interview, Notch mentions some possible up-and-coming changes for 1.8, such as boss fights, clearer boundaries and features for biomes, and more. On Terraria-style inspired bosses, he said that "“...might end up somehow in Minecraft ... I really like that idea.”
Additionally, he mentioned the future possibility of Minecraft resembling Roguelikes, stating that having a goal, however difficult to achieve, is often a driving motivator for players, to give them a purpose in continuing on.

Don't worry.
The sandbox aspects will still be there.
It is not like he is getting rid of sandbox.
And all leveling does is increase hp.
It does not lock you out of materials.
Or if you could have "parties" where you would have multiple NPC that could do certain things depending on what is in their inventory. There could be a button that assigns them jobs.
Also add bears, which drop fur to make coats hoods pants and boot out of fur. The fur set will protect you from cold in tundra and taiga (but only if not adds that)
boss 1-giant zombie! same stats as giant.
boss 2-army skeleton! a skeleton that does double dmg and has 2 times as fast fire rate with his bow AND X3 HP!
boss 3-the spider king! a spider that does 4X as much dmg and has 25 hearts!
boss 4-tactical creeper! a creeper that explodes multiple times and ISNT killed by explosions!
boss 5-hyper slime! a massive slime (think ghast without trails) with 100 hearts and 9 attack dmg!
boss 6-spider king soldier! 2 army skeletons riding a spider king!
boss 7-angry pink sheepie! a pink sheep... with guns. great...
boss 8-graveyard! a 4X4X4 plot of obsidion with zombie spawners on it! destroy it with picks!
boss 9-pigman overlord! a zombie pigman with yellow goo and a diamond sword!
boss 10-ghast soldier! a ghast with an awesome army hat! same stats as army skeleton... but with fireballs.
those are my ideas for bosses.
Oh really? Since when is having more options to do considered ruining the game. Is there an endgame? No. Beating a boss isn't winning, its just a challenge for the minecrafters who have mastered the art of killing the current hostile mobs. Your logic basically says adding enemies to the game ruins it. Don't like the roleplaying? Your opinion. You're saying that a game with minor roleplaying features cannot be a sandbox. It's still Minecraft. You'll still be able to build whatever the HECK YOU WANT. you'll still be able to explore. And about you saying Notch is going against his original plan for Minecraft: he's making it into more than it was before. Theres gonna be no less creativity in the mix, only more to do. I can't say I agree with everything Notch is doing. Nor does everybody else. Were beta testers. We give notch feedback. If too many people don't like Permadeath, for example, he'll almost definatly remove it. I'm no crazy fanboy. I'm just using some logic.
i mean Simon and Lewis do it every time they see Israhel! so why not in the normal game?
Anyone else getting tired of just farming sugar cane, cactus, wheat, and mushrooms? :smile.gif: Well, I shouldn't say tired of it but looking for more.
Guys, just so your aware, hes not going to do the same thing Terraria is doing, hes going to alter it to fit minecraft better. So no Giant Eye monster, maybe a Cthulhu, but not his EYE!
