1.8 Updates: Bosses, Biomes and More
In a recent interview, Notch mentions some possible up-and-coming changes for 1.8, such as boss fights, clearer boundaries and features for biomes, and more. On Terraria-style inspired bosses, he said that "“...might end up somehow in Minecraft ... I really like that idea.”
Additionally, he mentioned the future possibility of Minecraft resembling Roguelikes, stating that having a goal, however difficult to achieve, is often a driving motivator for players, to give them a purpose in continuing on.

Either you're in denial or you're completely oblivious to the existence of mods. All the content that will be added in 1.8 is in a mod in one form or another, or are incredibly basic features in many other games. NPC villages? Millenia Mod. Dual-wielding? Adventurecraft. Sprinting? Virtually any RPG or adventure game. Tell me one thing about 1.8 that is original. The same can be said about previous versions. Pistons? Piston mod.
And what does pleasing 2 million people have to do with originality? Senseless logic. You don't have to be original to please people. Especially when most of these people seem to have never played a game outside of Minecraft.
The modding community is where the credit should go to. They don't get paid yet they are doing a far better and more enthusiastic job than Notch and his team. 2 million copies of this game have been sold, and it's been a year since I bought this game. Little has changed. You'd think after selling that many copies and raking in that much $$$ (especially when no license or publication, or even advertisement fees are needed to be paid because Mojang is an Indie developer) that he'd invest some more resources into Minecraft development. But instead the resources are going into making that ridiculous card game.
Wall of text fail. Use paragraphs please.
Anyway, if you read what I typed then you would know I wasn't criticizing his lack of originality. I was criticizing YOUR suggestion that Notch is original. It was a response to your previous post that suggested Notch comes up with many ideas of his own. Now since you seem to admit he lacks originality, you've just contradicted your own previous post.
And when did I ever say fans cared about originality? In fact, if you read my post, I said the EXACT OPPOSITE. I also said the credit should go to the modding community. Maybe from that you can deduce that I think positively about the modding community? Or still confused?
So please, for the love of god, read my post before you respond to it.
The second quote you 'cherry picked' was not even directed at you. Those quotes aren't even part of the same post. If you thought I was criticizing his lack of originality, then you should have quoted that earlier, and I would have made a response to that. But you're post...
is a response to one of my posts that does NOT include any criticism of Notch's lack of originality.
It's obvious you are trying to 'engineer' my posts in an attempt to 'win'. But since you've even admitted that Notch lacks originality, I don't see why you're even continuing to argue this point. Why not address the other points that are still being contended? All you are doing is flogging a dead horse.
Besides, I don't see why you should be so upset the moment someone criticizes Notch or Minecraft. This place is not an altar of worship to idolize Notch. This place is a forum where people voice their opinions.
after he be in the game with no mods
And then for the insanity factor, Cthulhu would be...
MADE OF SPHERES
If you don't set any goals in minecraft you're not doing anything.
And that's just wrong.
