“I’m a big roguelike fan,” explains Notch. “It’s really fun. The idea is that you level up really, really fast. You can grind away and level up fast if you want to, or you can just play as normal and level up that way. The longer you play, the bigger the risk of dying becomes. It’s the part that really works. If it feels like it’s too harsh, we might make it half or something like that. But the fact that you lose everything – you lose all your inventory anyways.”
This is looking like it's more and more to do with the much anticipated "Adventure Update" moniker that Patch 1.8 has been dubbed with.
Rogue like concepts make everything better!
Permadeath. Again no thanks, but if its included I want the option to turn it off.
Hunger. I could deal with this but again I want an option to turn it off.
Basically, I don't care if this stuff is added I just don't want to use it period. If I am forced to use it I will either never update or just rage quit minecraft all together.
Ya i know it sounds weird someone might not like EXP but i dont want EXP in minecraft because that doesnt really fit in with minecraft.I mean everything notch is doing in the adventure update is fine because minecraft still keeps its survival aspect still. But EXP? No offense but that just doesnt sound right with minecraft!
Steve: Hey bob i became level 12!
Bob: SOOOOOO I became level 112!
Hacker: SOOOOOOOOO I became Level OVER 9000! Time to pwn noobs!!!!!
*PWNS every minecrafter in existence!*
Notch: I SHall stop Hi.... Wha are you doi...AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.....No do....*Dies from hacker*
Well, tbh, I'm kinda agree with you. I don't think EXP would really fit in Minecraft, or at least in Survival. If there 2 distincts gameplay that we could choose, then I will not have any problem with that at all.
What could you possible get from leveling... hmmmm
More health? Better attacks? Faster hand movement (for block placing and attacking)?
Interesting.
Also Permadeath seems to sound good for like those trick adventure type maps, but in normal worlds I really don't think it's a good idea. What does Permadeath mean exactly anyway? Maybe it's to set high scores, spawn a guy and see how long he lasts and how much score he gets before he dies from increasing waves of mobs in a pre-built world?
So you hate the idea of gaining levels...
...and you hate the idea of those levels being taken away from you.
This is why reading skills are important, kids.
