Notch recently revealed more information regarding the 1.8 Adventure Update. The following things have been confirmed for the update's release:
- NPC Villages
- Randomly generated dungeons
- New biome code
- Fully functioning Creative mode (with Creative-type access to server mods/admins)
- Critical hits
- Sprinting
- More farming options
- Brightness slider
He also mentioned that mod support was definitely being worked on, but that information on the update as a whole would be kept under a tight lid, to avoid revealing too many surprises.
We will continue to update the community as information becomes available.
That's about all I have to say at the moment. Cannot wait for this update to hit (critically; of course :D)
There is no adventure mode.
Who are you reffering to? Which comment are you repplyine to?
Agreed.
IMPORTANT:
Apparently someone has to post this every page, because failure to do so will result in n00bs making stupid comments.
The adventure update has nothing to do with Adventurecraft or adventure maps! Read the news and his personal blog and everything. You will notice that he never mentioned stuff like Adventurecraft. He can't implement it cause he's too busy implementing important stuff like npc villages.
I wish I could mod out the complaining, the same way the people who dont want npcs will be able to mod them out a day after the patch :/
Ideally we will get some options to include dugeons/villages etc in the world on spawn. I do wish we had a bit more control over the world, like I do in for instance the civilization games.
I also hope the npc and dungeons have some custom blocks so the creative players have to turn them on lol. (Oh yeah, but creative mode probably means blocks spawning, huh?)
This update sounds much better than it would have been if released as 1.7! I'm glad they are taking their time with it and not rushing it like they did with the pistons.
I hope we can plunder them and stuff.
They're as randomly generated as the earth itself, so stop.
Also, I just realized that that feature is definetily better than millenaire cause of multiplayer.
Which does not change the fact NPC's in Minecraft is stupid idea.
NPC Pigmen sound awesome. They're not HUMANS, so in theory it's still 'mysterious' and you're still 'alone'. I doubt they'll have the option to have an actual conversation with you, and I'm fairly certain you'll be able to destroy their houses and kill them. I also doubt that they'll dot your map and will be all over the goddamn place. I think they'll be more like Dungeons, with a small chance to spawn, but I obviously don't know.
No one said anything about pigmen.
