Notch just dropped a bombshell on Twitter: patch 1.6 will be coming to the Minecraft beta next week. While it's probably taken a little longer than originally planned, it's for a good reason. The patch was primarily a bug-fix update that would include only one new feature: an awesome in-game map system.
Then a few weeks ago Notch updated the timetable for the patch release as "not soon" because he wanted to do something else: add a fully functional Nether to multiplayer.
So we know that maps are coming, as is a working Nether, and there are a lot of bugs squashed to boot. What are you looking forward to most in the patch?
Looking forward to maps. Be nice to have them, they should add more to the adventure feel of Minecraft.Nether will be awesome too for the likes of myself that play SMP only, we missed it :)Hoping the bug fixes fix the bug that I hate the most though.
don't know if the updates worth it when you have almost 15 working mods installed lolz!:P I really hope notch adds more, and MAYBE talk about adding his new sky realm project, to the game!
Def ALL of it! Between the SMP Nether and enormous amount of bug fixes, plus the maps and Hatches (trap doors whatever) it's going to be like a whole new game again.
im not particularly excited about either, 1.6 means a server update, of which isnt fun becuase it will most likely be followed by yet another bukkit update, and nether will most likely slow the server down so i hope there is a way to disable it... but yeah, i suppose it would be cool.
Looking forward to the Nether... don't care too much about maps, since the server admin posts maps of the server. Certainly NOT looking forward to the 20 minute walks along the soon to be defunct rail lines to get to the more remote areas of the server. Unless the currently useless powered tracks receive a HUGE upgrade, or gold is made about 8x more abundant, gold will never be gathered in a high enough proportion to iron to keep up with an expanding rail infrastructure.
Unless Someone ecle sugested it before and/or after me.
I'm hopeing for some clarification.

I really seriously doubt you're the first person to ever think of putting a map in a video game with a large world.
I would be shocked to find you were the first one to think of putting a map in Minecraft.
uhh a radar...
i think i should called it zen minimap actually >.<
1.6 > a map, nether, trap doors.... uhh.. what else.. nothing? =..="
