one of my buddies is having a problem where he can't login to mojang's website because it's been so long since he used that account that he forgot his password and answers to his security questions, and it won't even let him reset them.

They would have to contact Microsoft or Mojang via social media/email or a phone number that's listed on their website.

I refuse to ever use Microsoft account. I have legally owned mc for 10 years, but I will use cracked before I use a Microsoft account.

Understandable I thought the same but with the Technic launcher as it doesn't require a Mojang account I think. It may look for your skin but that's about it. It's the only legal (and also modpack launcher but with Vanilla still, but custom instance creation kind of gets complicated) that you can access I think without need for a Mojang account but at least still purchase of the game of course. It's the way I was thinking of going.

Not thought about cracked launchers as 'how legal it is (I have used TLauncher before to see what it was like when people ask questions but that's about it) but yeah I and many others weren't happy about this either. I have a lot of sympathy for Mac/Linux users that want nothing to do with it either.

Minecraft’s account migration to Microsoft is underway, and some players aren’t entirely satisfied. While Mojang claims the move improves security and will lead to more safety features, some players with multiple accounts are reportedly being locked out – and the move is mandatory.

Initially revealed last month, the migration is mainly security focused. For example, you can use two-factor authentication once you make the swap. As of March 10, though, you’ll need to migrate your account to keep playing Minecraft, and that’s caused a bit of upset with some players.

Minecraft content creator Docm77 calls the account migration the “biggest mistake in the history of Minecraft” on Twitter. Reason being, “If you have more than one account, you are forced to make a Microsoft account for each”. Apparently, this issue then leads to getting your Microsoft account locked due to some terms-of-service stipulations. While this isn’t an issue that every Minecraft enjoyer is going to face, it presents a problem for content creators and those who simply like tinkering with the game as they may need to make more Microsoft accounts. Looking to social media, there are several reports from players who are having issues making the jump.

That might change. In the "launcher_accounts.json" file, there is a variable that reads "hasMultipleProfiles". It has not been there a few months ago.

The email adress of my mojang account no longer exists since it was 7 years ago, now i can't play on my account because i'm unable to migrate. Mojang needs to provide an alternative way or i won't be able to play the game i paid for!

I think you need to contact them via e-mail or phone.

Leaving aside for a moment that it is your fault for not caring about what you paid for, since you obviously never bothered to update your e-mail address or save your password in a password manager.
