It's wednesday, my dudes! Todays snapshot marks The Village & Pillage update as, for the most part, feature complete. We're still planning to do a big polish pass, there may be some small features snuck in here or there, but ultimately it's bug fixing from here on out and we're
hoping for a release quite soon!
A full summary of the content available in this snapshot can be found in the changelog on Minecraft.net.
CHANGES IN 19W11A
- Lots of accessibility improvements!
- Added a new "Globe" banner pattern and item (Currently only accessible from commands or the creative inventory)
- Trading changes
- Added recipe for smithing and fletching table
- TNT and TNT minecart explosions now have 100% drop rate
ACCESSIBILITY
- There's a new Accessibility menu which provides a useful place for all of our accessibility features to be toggled
- When the narrator is turned on, buttons will be narrated on focus
- Most screens allow tab and shift+tab navigation through buttons, edit boxes and other UI elements
- Most lists allow up/down arrow keys to navigate through them
- We've added a new option for turning up the background of all transparent text elements, which should help make them more readable for some people
SMITHING TABLE AND FLETCHING TABLE
- Smithing table is crafted with 4 planks + 2 iron ingots
- Fletching table is crafted with 4 planks + 2 flint
- Villagers use them as a work site
- We've decided not to add the functionality for these blocks for this update as we want to make sure that they're useful for the overall gameplay. We have a great idea for them for the next major themed update...
TRADING CHANGES
- Lots of new trades have been added
- Villagers now level up in a new way
- The trading UI is updated (WIP)
- The trading prices now depend on your reputation and on demand
- The villagers will restock up to two times per day (if they can work at their work station!)
- Added visual trading; villagers will display the item they want to trade for your in-hand item
VILLAGER CHANGES
- Villagers now have a daily schedule. They will for example go to work and meet up at the village bell
- Each villager will try to find their own bed and work station
- Each profession has a specific block that works as a work station for them (e.g. lectern for the librarian and cauldron for the leatherworker)
- Village detection is now based on beds, job sites and meeting points instead of doors
- Iron golems will spawn when enough villagers meet
To get snapshots, open your launcher and go to the "launch options" tab. Check the box saying "Enable snapshots" and save. To switch between the snapshot and normal version, you can find a new dropdown menu next to the "Play" button. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (In the "launch options" page).
Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com.
Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

Yes, blocks broken by a TNT explosion now have a 100% drop rate ie. no blocks are lost to the explosion.
Items, however, can still be destroyed by TNT so any items created by a first explosion are likely to be destroyed if not picked up before a second.
Have not been able to find anything that specifically mentions mob drops, but a number of indications that they also have a 100% drop rate from the first explosion [only in the sense that the TNT destroys no drops] but are subject to destruction by subsequent explosions.
TNT mining of diamonds would noy be something I'd recommend as it breaks the ore block without the benfit of Fortune, but it is otherwise possible.
I can see the impetous to make TNT more viable for mining, but agree that preserving a small chance of destroyed blocks (or – better still – further reduced blocks eg stone types to gravel or sand / wood to sticks) would be more realistic [for whatever weight the realism argument can be said to have].
Socializing Villagers have hearts as if they were breeding. Had anyone else have this?
I thought they were stuck permanently in love mode, so it's probably a bug.
What part of blocks floating in mid-air is realistic?
My village has stopped producing villagers but I have had over 14 iron golems spawned at one time in my village. Also, I am having a lot of bugs with my villagers being completely locked with trades, not going to their stations and restocking, and just wandering around a tree all night instead of going inside. The villagers also require a ridiculous amount of trading to go from Novice all the way to Journeyman; but from Journeyman on, it takes as little as one trade per level. The mob spawn rate also seems incredibly low. On a world that is on normal difficulty, in the middle of the desert I only encountered one zombie the whole night. Has anybody else had these or any similar problems?
Yup, a Minecraft update classic, been with us since the beginning. Mojang can make any AI for a creature in Minecraft that they want, but only if it's not an ally. That's why the mod Better Than Wolves exists. Been the same since 2011.
All blocks changes makes the game look awful. Wood or woodenplanks looks like going from 720p to 240p as well as many other blocks. The game just looks like taking a big flashlight over it and sunburnt it. The only thing that looked ok was glass i will gibe you that but otherwise i hope you make texture pack for standard looking because i will not enjoy playing minecraft in this new form. I think a lot of players think the same at least all my friends do.
You're definitely right on one thing, many players do think the same. Probably 100's of thousands. The texture update is extremely polarizing and has made me think many times "if it's that controversial and nobody was mad before, why bloody bother?" It even brought me to the point where I re-thought my stance on 1.9 and started viewing it as having the same problem instead of "good rebalance thatisall". Something being "bad" is subjective, but somebody saying something is bad is a fact. What, is it "subjective" that Attack of the Clones was poorly-received? Hell no, it freaking was poorly-received. That happened.
Because people who are fine with practically everything Minecraft are socially-dominant, people who have gripes about textures or what-have-you are just not visible because they're in the shadows.
my villagers won't breed,
pillagers kill them,
village is dead,
tried it 5 times, outcome is always a dead village.
hopefully this bug get an update
Not sure that such a huge nerf to the way iron golems spawn is a good idea atm. Not with a possible huge minecraft killer game about to released. Mojang might want to step back and think about not recreating another 1.9 Just like 1.9 servers who have become dependent on iron farms may choose not to update to 1.14 as current servers refuse to update beyond 1.8. This is why most servers today still support any version from 1.8 to 1.13 rather than a single game version as they did before 1.9. It's only recently that the performieum has decided to retire the 1.8 servers.
The "NEWS" section of minecraftforum.net is very outdated. They have already released the snapshot 19w11b and 19w12a and have not been reported here yet. NEWS ???
Well this is ok I quess
Loving it so far. I'm running a snapshot server in the West Coast US at TheHideoutPNW.com right now. I have noticed I am getting some more server lag than usual however.
Dear Minecraft Users and Mojang the Crossbow in this update was promised to be both the most damaging and fathest range of them all. However to my own and many others testing this is not the case! The crossbow infact has the same range, same damage as the bow, and even worse of a shot spread at range. With the promise of a better more damaging bow with the trade off of it being slower, most of us are disappointed to see that it is not what we are expecting and the crossbow is still bugged to this day.
i actually went back to using my regular bow than the crossbow
nice job mojang
