Looking to learn more about the Better Together update? Check out our previous article covering the update here.
Did they remove Exit w/out Saving just so the isolated versions don't look objectively worse?
No idea. But removing that means that the YouTubers that destroy other people's MC worlds on Xbox will be able to do it a lot easier, since they don't have to worry about the player exiting without saving.
>anticipated
yeah, right
Structure blocks still not working on PE 1.2 : (
That was one of the things they originally said would be updated.
So how do i get it with out paying. I own the digital copy and the disc. In the 72 hours i have have play more then 10 hours.
Any help?
So, this is where I'm at:
(1) My XBox One - v 1.2 - Installed Better Together, since I bought my copy digitally and installed the Beta via XBox Insider Hub.
(2) My Son's Xbox One - Better Together NOT installed, since he has a physical disk copy.
(3) Windows 10 - v1.1.5 Installed and this is still the latest version per Windows Store - Better Together NOT installed, unable to install at present
(4) Android Phone - v 1.2 - Better Together installed, and it looks like it. Have yet to play on it.
(5) Son's IPad - v1.1.7 - Installed and latest version at Apple App Store - Better Together NOT installed, unable to install at present
So...Better Together is NOT there yet for Windows 10 and iOS, is there for Android and sort of is there for XBox One depending on whether or not you installed the Beta it looks like. Don't feel all that Together, never mind Better.
I won't be playing this version but that's pretty cool.
Has ANYONE received the update on Windows 10? If you did, were you signed up for the beta? I tried signing back up for the beta, but now it's not available for obvious reasons, and I'm still stuck on 1.1.5 with no way to connect my updated Android devices to worlds running on my PC. I'm so sick of paying money for something only to be told when, where, and how I can play. Just another typical Microsoft failure to deliver.
i also am missing the windows 10 release. I don't know why they did not update it yet, when they said they did in the announcement.
Yeah, I'm also missing the update for Windows 10!
The Java Edition, is written in Java, obviously, while the Bedrock Codebase, now referred to as "Minecraft", is written in C#, so... incompatible languages. Sadly.
Java is generally a slower language, and C is more capable of handling games, and friendlier to port. Plus, say what you will, the Java Edition's code is very, very disorganized, as it was originally an indie game made by an indie developer. They are not trying to write off the Java edition as a secondary edition, and one of the reasons they renamed it this, is that the community, largely already called it the 'Java Edition'. Heck, they even said, they plan on trying to release updates for the Bedrock Codebase, and Java around the same time. In the end, there is no, 'secondary Minecraft' (unless you count 3DS edition :p)
A large portion of the Minecraft community has been calling Minecraft on PC "Java Edition" ever since the game was released on consoles. This isn't a change for most people, Mojang adapted to a common view.
Left out? Those of us who have only had the Win10/Pocket Edition have had to live without TONS of features found in the Java Edition for years!
Who cares about that now though, we're basically side by side now. YAY! Now Java players feel threatened though, quite funny. I'm a Java and Bedrock player, so... I'm cool with everything that's been going on.
Java edition isn't being abandoned. It won't be abandoned. If they do, they'd be making a big mistake, and I doubt they're dumb enough to do that. Also, you're asking all of the cross-play editions to be completely re-coded in a clunky, unorganized way just so that the original version can be brought into a crossplay edition, with a marketplace and micro-transactions. To that I say no thank you.
Oooh okay, I understand now
Did you completely ignore what Validfire said? Java code is complete **** compared to C++ and the game needed to run on low powered phones and tablets, Java could've never accomplished for the Pocket Edition what C++ did
He just thinks that instead MC:Java be named Java edition instead it should be the newer Windows 10 only edition be named Minecraft: Win10 Edition. And besides why not just add a compat layer on Java's side. They can make a library for all needed connections and then disable features not implemented on Bedrock. Though theese features will then be re-enabled when playing on a server or Single Player.
What happened to the super duper graphics (shaders) promised?
