This week in Minecraft — July 29th
Dinnerbone mentions that maybe next week there will be a 1.12.1 snapshot containing a small number of bug fixes for Minecraft 1.12. Dinnerbone also mentions that
snapshots for Minecraft 1.13 will start when "...we're confident that we can play for more than 5 mins without yelling "it's broken!"" and that Minecraft 1.13 is "...a technical update, lots of things to make the game run better and let us develop more stuff easier." which will include changes that allow Minecraft to evolve more: "...that's not possible until we remove the block ID limit, which will also be happening in 1.13." Daniel Kaplan AKA Kappische, the first employee of Mojang way back in 2010,
is leaving Mojang to join Coffee Stain Studios, developers of Sanctum and Goat Simulator. The Biome Settlers 2 skin pack, inspired by the Nether & Mushroom Island biomes, is
now available on consoles. A new map has been released for the Glide Mini Game, and
it's completely free!
Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch has been updated, now when the console is docked the game will play at 1080p. As part of the upcoming Better Together Update, Mojang and Microsoft are working to improve player safety and this week
published a guide to remaining safe online, including an overview of the changes coming as part of the update.
