Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (In the "launch options" page).
Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com.
Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

im glad they reintroduced putting the advancements in chat when they are achieved
Another snapshot?
Is this thing ever going to be launched
This is only the seventh (or is it the eighth?) major snapshot for 1.12.
yeah, look at how many there were for 1.8
It takes as long as it takes. I much prefer snapshots to "MC 1.12... er, I mean MC 1.12.3... 4? Ok, let's just go with MC 1.12.5..."
Minor releases to fix bugs that should have been caught before the initial major release means pain with LiteLoader and mods as well as with Spigot plugins.
Definitely true. I'd prefer infrequent larger (more stable) updates to smaller, more common updates.
I understand but i really want to get work with the new stuff, but the server i am on is not updating until official release
I want a parrot :'(
Apparently three people rate this an average of 5.3/5 stars?
I mean, it's good news and all, but I'm fairly certain that can't happen.
Honestly all I gather from this is that you're turning this into the C++ version. You say you aren't, and yet you introduce Realms and force people to pay for it, then you introduce a crafting system based on C++ version, and you're championing texture packs, resource packs, command blocks, and custom maps as the future of PC and it's very evident, despite modding being so much more accessible than ever and the fact that it is infinitely better and more lightweight in most cases. But hey, it's okay to alienate your most dedicated and longest-lasting player base for the newer, more inept players when you can just introduce the stuff that cheats your way through and provides lackluster content in the place of the content that you promised in the first place, such as a Friends List, an official modding API, or anything to that sort. Not to mention that there are features such as cubic chunks (16^3 'chunks') that would over-all be better for the game, the player-base, and the creative direction of Mojang at large. I get that some people will call me stupid but I think that Mojang could and should be dedicating their very limited resources to working on future-proof, feature-complete additions that will revolutionize how Minecraft plays (one suggestion I read once was that with adding chunks that render by height, you can have infinite world-spaces (or at least to the bounds of the horizontal axis, and with it you could add the nether leagues below the overworld and the end above it, instead of having to generate entire new dimensions).
Again, not hating, but I really do hope and wish that Mojang will start to focus on what matters most before it's too late. Because as of now this is starting to turn into wolves. They're cool, but they're useless and waste time on the things that we absolutely *need* in the game.
Parrots are just another in a long line of useless mobs. Heck, the developer who added them was a developer for Angry Birds so the parrots are just a cheap copy of another game - similar to how Mojang ripped off the idea of monster spawners from the 1980s arcade game Gauntlet. Add to that armor stands, etc. and it makes you wonder what exactly the lazy people like Jeb, etc. have really truly created on their own. And it takes a billion snapshots just to add one block here and there.
Post this on the Reddit, you'll get more attention there and Mojang doesn't even read the MC Forums. Which especially sad since most indie companies read their official forums and make some sort of effort to communicate and maintain the game's feel, yet Mojang doesn't. Terraria and Subnautica are good examples of doing this right.
Finally, someone who is talking my language, Mojang is really neglecting their old player base by making broken promises.
Yeah, It would be much more convenient to have an IGN Friends List. I would appreciate this.
Cubic Chunks on the other hand is one good example what they could've done if they gave it a shot.
They could've hired the guy who's working on it to implement this in the main code but they didn't. They don't know what to do with the lighting engine at that point. Why the heck can we go 30 million blocks horizontally in any direction but not vertically? We even didn't get 512 as an improvement. That 256 building limit is ridiculous if you ask me.
I really hope after this update that they start adding the features you mentioned earlier. That would benefit all of us.
But the thing is, spawners add some platform of content to the game. It gives a little risk / reward for finding dungeons. Oh you're exploring caves on Hard mode with only a leather chestplate? There's a dungeon spawning skeletons. Good luck. If you can manage to destroy the spawner / light the room then you are rewarded with the loot. And even beyond that you can create a viable farm of the drops of the mobs.
Armor stands, though quite useless, at least give a slight utility. They allow players to display armors that they deem valuable and/or showcase-worthy. That, or it serves as a quick-swap that doesn't require you to open an inv for grabbing armors. Either way it has a small niche. But all parrots do is make the noise of a nearby mob. Which in the end won't help. You can likely already hear the mob if you're close, and if not then it isn't super useful, as if you *needed* a mob kill, you could create a mob grinder. And to say it's a protection from creepers (makes the powder noise) is still ludicrous as the cat is easier to tame, follows you around, can be bred, and actually SCARES creepers away. But we have parrots now instead of something more useful.
Sadly it'd get lost either way. Trying to talk sense into Mojang is about as viable as giving a corpse advil to revive it.
This update's garbage because it doesn't cater to me and me exclusively.
^ This. The amount of people acting entitled these days is a joke.
One can only hope and pray. I really wish they would focus on features that enable them to be fully creative. The second I could make a world that went both up and down in both directions for a long time I was already much happier. I wasn't limited by height and as such could make much larger bases. I can't tell you how many times I've hit the world height whilst building up my base larger and had to scrap ALL my progress, backpedal, and build downwards instead, which breaks many pickaxes, takes 5 times as long, and then requires more effort to light.
I dis like the new crafting thing apart of the fun i find in minecraft is actually doing the crafting do #originalcrafting if you agree
Wow Cant wait
