They don't have any specific goals, nor do they have a schedule. Therefore, their work speed is exactly what it should be.
It didn't take them this long to do anything. There were no promises of doing it before. It was not required of them, or expected of them. They did this just now because they decided to do it and hadn't decided to do it before.
idea_choose.exe
while true do
idea.choose(mojangIdeas)
if mojangIdeas == 0 then
idea.choose(suggestions)
else end
tl;dr: IMO, when they have no more ideas they check their 7-years old suggestions list and they have only started, it seems.
This marketplace pretty much shows in a nutshell, why Microsoft could never create a game anywhere near as popular as Minecraft. Clearly they don't even understand what made Minecraft so popular. As a long time fan I am sad to see Microsoft's greed slowly butcher such a great game.
And here comes the paid DLC I'm sure.
Also, along with nagging with just how long it took to get colored beds.... remember how long witches didn't have sound? Everything they implement is half-done and sits for 3 years, then they work on it some more to call it done.
>people still saying the Marketplace will make free mods illegal
>the image shown of the Marketplace doesn't even have a section for mods
People, chill.
Everyone seems to be assuming the worst immediately. We've got no word on how mods will be treated in the Marketplace, nor do we have anything on free texture packs/skins/maps. But no, everyone's like "OMG MIKROSOF GON BAN MODDS N TEXPAKS UNLES U PAY 4 DEM!!!!!!!1111ONEHUNDREDANDELEVEN!"
This might come across as harsh, but it's true.

You know, hiring mapmakers is blowing up a part of the community. Hiring resourcepack makers is blowing another part. Guess what's next?

Oh like Parrots? Please. This nouvelle Mojang is a disgrace to the old work of Minecraft.
And why is that? They have not given us any reason to expect anything of them. They do not have any need to be consistent. They have made no promises to us. They are not obligated to read your mind and do what you want.
They are exactly where they should be, doing exactly what they should be. It is no disgrace when there is no plan or rules.
What is this 2013? He sold Mojang a long time ago and has literally nothing to do with development lmao
I can't have an opinion because of a Fatal bootstrap error.
We dont need faster updates.
The update rate is fine, moders, plugin makers and texture artists are barely keeping up as it is.
As for the market place, yes.. it sucks, and no you dont have to use it. So basically just dont use it and thats it, it will eventually fail. As long as the Java version is getting updates i dont care what happens to win10 and mcpe. if they decide to abandon java for win10, well then there is a problem!
There will be not. Modders will just use MC as they want, and it won't be much a problem.
Maybe they play Minecraft all day
yep
Still wondered why they have not given us a method (any method) to rotate placed blocks. There's no way that they couldn't've thought of an issue with not being able to place pistons the right way without breaking blocks and doing all the other annoying stuff. Seriously, all you need is to play with some redstone for like 5 minutes to know that this might be a problem.
A LOT, Most of the resourcepack artists I'm in contact with have changed the bed model more than once. And when we all heard of 16 beds??? It was like the announcement of the door/fence update, so many doors and fences we could make cool models of. I used to work on a pack alongside monsterfisher and others who were inspired by john smith rp, I pretty much abandoned it when they "officially" removed metadata. Not saying I will stop working on other packs now, but it seems to be a trend that they give us something and remove something. 1.7->1.8 saw models at the cost of metadata. And now they add more "metadata/variants" but at the cost of models.
From a resourcepack creators perspective it will just be another re-color block to do.
Its a worthy trade off. As someone who makes RPs as well, and who just finished his stand-alone-put-two-together bunk bed models.. its annoying.. But I think having 16 beds to create custom textures for is great. They're each a stand alone texture, meaning things we've wanted to do before to make biome themed beds is possible and plausible. I'll miss the bed models, but hey, I like the colours more. Besides, with the way Optifine is going, with custom entity models, it might be possible soon anyways.
Let me guess, coloured beds will make it so you HAVE to use specific colour wool to craft, so you can no longer mix the recipes up right? They did the same thing when they introduced the new boats. :/
Nope, they stated that the beds can be made with any wool, and then dyed. Least, I believe I read that somewhere.
Wait, so what colour is it when it's first crafted?
