The Minecraft movie that has been discussed for some time now has hit some unusual roadblocks. Warner Bros. - brought on to work on the Minecraft movie - has left the project, after Mojang rejected the script idea, saying it reminded them of the 80's film "The Goonies".
Shawn Levy - who was to direct the film - seemed a bit confused. "Because it's not a narrative game...we came up with an approach that felt good to us, and I discussed it with Mojang." In the end, it wasn't what Mojang was after in a film, and the idea was turned down. At the moment, it is not known who (if anyone) will pick up the Minecraft movie banner, or what sort of story they will try to tell with it. Time will tell, as they say!
