We fight monsters, not each other. Setting Hard. Strict survival. Economic system in place, many joint projects. Terrific community. Griefers are immediately banned, so whatever you build is safe. If you're tired of dealing with destructive kids, this is the place for you.
We have an arena if you like PVP; otherwise, PVP is disabled. We also have a creative space for rough drafts. map on the internet at http://digstraightdown.com:8123/#
Everyone's fantasies to the contrary, Mojang is no longer Notch and Jeb in Notch's garage. This is a big operation, and I'm certain that nothing is left unattended while "everyone" goes to a party. I'm equally certain that there is a 24 hour crew and massive backup arrangements.
Something went badly wrong last night/this morning (depending on your time zone; it was about 4 am - 7 am Sunday Central European time) and the authentication servers were down. Mojang knows what happened, but for obvious reasons they're not going to tell us, they'd like us all to forget it ASAP. (They probably want to forget it too, especially the folks up in the wee hours trying to make the machinery work.)
NASA goes down. NATO's computers go down. Blackouts happen over large areas of the developed world, to say nothing of everyone else. Nothing is perfect. I'm just glad they got it working again.
I have no idea what is causing this, but it is a MAJOR nuisance. As others have observed, it sometimes is not safe to have all your dogs and cats suddenly on site while you're doing something far away. Also it prevents spreading your supply of dogs and cats around to different locations: they all end up in the living room. (Distributing them was meant to foil griefers, who have killed them on occasion.)
I am having EXACTLY the same degree of problem on a bukkit server with 20 plugins and on a vanilla server with no fancy stuff at all. I am intensely hoping this gets fixed soon.Oh, and I'm not using any mods on either server.

It's driving me crazy. I hope they fix it on this next go-round.
