Now it's happened three times. I make a world, get it all going, houses and mines and so forth, and then one day it won't load. I've tried discarding the level.dat file and starting over, and that works for a while....then it doesn't any more. Here's the error code I got last time:
Minecraft has crashed!

Is this normal? I mean, do worlds wear out? Is there something I can do to prevent this? It's very frustrating.
Saika, thanks for the help. I found a long pdf all about Java, and I think the answer is in there somewhere, but I'm just not knowledgeable enough to understand it. I'm hoping the programming guys at Minecraft fix this.
Faxum, I'm running Apple, and I cannot find the ".minecraft folder." That's not how the Apple OS organizes it, and I'd love to find the bin and resources files but can't. Where should I look?
Opened a new version about an hour ago (7:25 pm Pacific time Friday Jan 21) and not only is my map gone, there's no hotbar! and no way to access the inventory! I can walk around and stuff, but that's it. Yikes!
