I would say let it activate immediatly, as soon as you stop moving. That way it isn't pointless(unless you are mining obsidian >.>)
But this is a great solution. However it is possible to having moving light sources, there is a mod for it, so its not impossible, its just that notch doesn't know how to do it.
mobs tend to cause lag if there are enough of them on a big enough map. Its sad, but there is nothing we can do. Its up to Notch to optimize files and then maybe there will be less lag.
These are all my favorite choices. the pixeludi pack won the texture pack competition, and for good reasons. Everything is great in it. The only downsides are that gravel looks like cobblestone in your inventory, well pretty close. Then you have to get used to iron that looks like iron...rather than steel. More logical, but it takes getting used to, I like it this way anyhow.
The ocarina of time pack is really focused to zelda fans, but it looks really good and its quite accurate.
Albions is amazing. It has lots of great textures, and it has tons of alternates for things. There are about 5 wooden door choices, and there are 2 or 3 types of wools, and even alternates for things like glowstone and every ore block has an alternate. The one thing I don't like about it, is that the ore blocks look a bit funny, but that is nothing compared to the pack's epicness.
what? I trust Bungie way more than I do Mojang, are you kidding me?
Anyhow the reason minecraft is successful is not really because the market is unsaturated, its that Notch got lucky timing and support from the average person and made the right choices when he coded the game. The fact that minecraft isn't all 6 year olds raging is a miracle.
I don't even care anymore. I have no expectations anymore. He's probably just going to change the date anyway. Not even the big companies make accurate release dates. I mean look at valve. Or a better example is nintendo delayed the release of the new zelda game indefinatly until they have a %100 solid release date.
I hope not, that would make me sad, because I don't really care about having a little sticker tell me I killed 5 creepers. If it isn't that, I would also hope it is the long promised modding API, integrated HD fix, or something useful like that. Especially since Notch isn't going to have the game discriminate when you are using tools outside of the vanilla game to attain achievement/stat goals. Just seems like a waste of time. :/
yeah so its been a few days, and no word from Notch as to what is coming next, or even of any brainstorming sessions. I am the curious type, I am hoping that 1.5 is all bug fixes.
I just read a thread asking for pigs to be pets because the person doesn't want to feed wolves because they are vegan.

I just had a 12 year old try to tell me that their opinion is fact, that indeed minecraft beta is better than the collective work of valve and nintendo.
OP, your suggestion insults my life style. I think the new wolves are awesome. I am a meatgan and I do not kill the plants in Minecraft. I even avoid killing the mushrooms except when my life depends on it because I feel mushrooms are misrepresented (IRL) as bad guys. The trees, are fair game.
Back on topic though. I am lonely. My girlfriend has flower friends, but because I refuse to kill flowers, I feel I cannot ethically keep them since I can't hurt them. As a meatgan, I do not feel I should own herbivorous pets. In real life I have a venus flytrap (she actually just jumped onto my pet bird and cat for attention so BRB) and that works for me. I love her.
Deal with it. Millions of living organisms eat each other every second. This isn't even real. It is a virtual representation of creatures. If you want to play real life, go play the sims. This suggestion will never make it, because no one cares. Your food choice makes no difference to me, eating a meat free diet is healthy infact. but doing it because you don't want to kill an animal, that is foolish. Things eat each other. I never understood Vegans, the idea is flawed. You won't eat anything that is an animal right? You are essentially saying that animals are better more precious life forms to the ecosystem, but they are only a fraction of it. In all honesty, I would like to have more tropical rain forests, so I have more air to breathe, and cleaner air to breathe. So stop eating, because all you do is kill life by doing so. You murderous creature.

This is a great solution IMO.
